Random "No Sim Card" Icon and dropping signal randomly

WHAT? Can you let us know what your source for this info is? I've been waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for mid July to roll around so I could upgrade to the DNA. I'd be very interested to know if it is actually being discontinued. It would be a major bummer to upgrade to a phone that was discontinued right after upgrading.

Don't worry, they're releasing the One on Verizon, which is a slight upgrade. (Which is probably why they're discontinuing the DNA.)

I was more interested in the DNA than the One. The One has the metal case which precludes capacitive charging. I really wanted to get away from plugging in the dang cords for charging. I also have ZERO interest in BlinkFeed. I know you can make another screen your home screen on the One but you can't get rid of BlinkFeed. I don't do social networking - no Twitter or Facebook. I don't want a constant and intrusive update to things. If I want to know something I'll look it up myself. I don't want or need the "help" provided by BlinkFeed. To me, it's a big mark against the One.

Yeah, and the plug cover on the DNA really encourages wireless charging :P I wouldn't worry too much about the software personally, since I would root anyway. But hey, these are good reasons. Go DNA! haha

Awh, sorry to hear that Daniel :-( I'm thinking I might have to try my dangest to get a ONE if I keep having problems with this device. I heard from a very reliable source that the DNA is discontinued. So if that's the case, replacements could soon be scarce. Maybe I can talk my way into a ONE lol

Jennifer, I really hope they do allow an upgrade BUT.......as you know I had so many issues they did offer me other phones, the Razr M and the LG Intuition. Not what I would call equal phones and certainly not an upgrade. I really didn't feel I could wait and try for the One and bought the Galaxy S4. Although I like the S4, if I was guaranteed a problem free DNA I'd go back.

I'd scrape the oxide off of the copper contacts with a knife. Just scrape till its shiny. Its always worked for me even with batteries.

The razor m would have been a total down grade, lol. As it is, I s-offed and unlocked my bootloader, so my warranty is void. I'm hoping I don't have any issues in the future.

I've read about the sim card error and have never had the problem myself until today when it has happened twice. I purchased the phone the week it came out and it's been a great phone outside of the battery drain with the google maps update, but now that's working fine. Anyone else have the sim issue after months of it working without a problem?

It would appear randomly almost. Sometimes months apart. I got a replacement phone and so far no issues.

I had one yesterday morning. The first time since the week of the update iirc. I just put it in airplane mode and then turned off airplane mode and it was fixed.

Whelp, my first SIM card issue since the update and since getting my SIM card replaced. I'm heading to my VZW store at lunch to attempt to get a replacement unit.

I haven't had the issue since rooting and roming, but then again, I only had the SIM issue 3 times in 4 months.

The thing is, I'd love to root and ROM, but I want to get a perfectly functional unit before voiding my warranty. I know the phone could be restored to stock, but I'd just rather get this over with before that becomes a necessity.

I completely understand. It is a personal preference. The only issue I had with mine was the SIM error, so keeping it and voiding my warranty was a much better solution than getting a replacement and it having more issues than the original.

The replacement should be here within 5 business days. I'm really hoping that it'll be a keeper.

I had it happen 3 x's yesterday and never before that point. I rebooted the phone and it worked...next time I'll try the airplane mode on/off.

Congrats on the Mod status Jennifer. Is the rooting still keeping the NO SIM bogey away? I got chewed out by my contractor today for always "turning off" my phone which is really the stupid no sim thing.

That sucks! And of course he or she wouldn't believe you. I ended up getting a replacement and haven't had any issues.

For me, I have rooted and seem to be getting the NO-SIM error more frequently. Maybe just bad luck...

I would bet it's the phone and not the ROM. Unless people on that ROM are all having that problem.

this issue is happening all over .. i'm in Singapore using a Rogers Canada unlocked Samsung 3 . I've replaced the SIM 2 X changed the actual reader 1 X and the problem still exists. I've used the temporary fixes ie , sticking piece of paper in slot with sim for better connection , adding 2 layers of tape to back of sim( not recommend as it ruins the sim ) , giving the sim a rub down with rubbing alcohol none of which worked. I contacted Samsung directly and they gave me a run around saying i must have damaged the phone , ( its brand new) and since i`m out of Canada , they will nut cover any internal defective issues with the phone... How sweet for an international company.. . I have either come to the conclusion that Some Sim cards are crap and the carriers will not take ownership or some type of software update is causing issues with the readerand Samsung will not admit .Being a non techie i have no where to begin ... just utterly disgusted with the product so much so I,m tempted to walk into the largest show room in Singapore with a hammer and smash the thing to bits on their counter I need this phone for business and so far the past 2 months is given me nothing but a headache. My carrier is Singtel and they have no resolution for the problem
