Was downloading some videos on my phone through wifi. I selected the video to view and my screen went blank... Then made a snapping and crackling sound and rebooted.

Everything seems fine but wanted to know of i should be concerned(obviously i am) or if anyone else has had this happen?

My first GNex had the snap, crackle, pop but second doesn't except a tiny bit of it when I go into recovery through CWM recovery. Had a random reboot tonight, though, no snap, crackle, pop.

If the only time you have had the snap, crackle, pop is this one time, I would ignore it. If it keeps happening, warranty exchange it.

Mine did that the other day. First time it rebooted by itself in a long time. An app crashed it.

C'mon man, don't you know it's a Galaxy Nexus and one of the features is that it doubles as a popcorn popper. We're waiting for an update that will perfect the popcorn popper feature so until then just enjoy your phone and the noise. :D

There's a setting in sounds or notifications where you can turn off the feature that makes the random popping. Forget where it is, just do the search. FYI, it's essentially the speaker coming on and off.

Thanks i hope this is true. It happened one time and sounded not good.

You didn't by chance just install Franco#16 kernel, did you? That's the only time it happened to me. I immediately installed a different kernel.

Why would a kernel cause a speaker sound? Or are you talking reboot?

Im stock no root or kernel change.

On another note WTF do my other posts have to do with me inquiring about a possible issue or unusual incident.

Shame on android central for allowing an advisor to be such a pr*ck

When mine rebooted, it kind of popped and the screen flashed like an old flashbulb right before.

Very interesting. I had my first "random" reboot last night, but my speaker was off. I do remember a very, very quick flash though.
