Random Reboots

Anyone experience just a random reboot when listening to audio? I use dogcatcher to listen to some podcasts and every time I listen to one the phone will reboot. I have tried using Pandora and get similar results. I rooted the phone to get some logcats but would also just like to know if anyone has experienced the same thing. Sorry for the rant

Not a one. Using stock phone, listen to music with stock player AND poweramp with no issues. Good luck.

Rats. May have to return it this week if it continues then. I won't tolerate random reboots while trying to just use the phone as intended. HTC vivid is same price now too

Maybe you could go to ATT and do a side-by-side with your phone and one of theirs, just to see if it's your phone or a flaw in the phone itself.

No reboots for me using Pandora. You said your phone is rooted. Can that be part of the problem?

Gave up and went to store. Did a swap and so far so good. I unrooted the phone too and got a reboot. It was crazy and I just gave up trying to fix it and got a new phone

Rats. New phone did a random reboot twice today while listening to audio. Using wired stereo headset and used dogcatcher and iheartradio when it rebooted

Still getting a random reboot while using audio. Using iheartradio, stock music player and doggcatcher. Used both wired and Bluetooth. Very upsetting that I can't figure out what is going on. The reboot seems to be different though. The screen is a faded version of the boot sequence, almost like it is rebooting but the backlight isn't coming on during that boot. Normal reboot shows just fine. No one is seeing anything similar? Odd that it is two different phones

The fact that it's happened twice to you, but not to others, says it must be a conflict in something you have installed. I would try (if possible) going back to stock (removing everything that is non-vital) to see if that problem occurs again. Not fun, but neither are restarts.

Good luck, and happy Thanksgiving!

No issues here. I have used Pandora, stock music player, and FM tuner. Have not tried Bluetooth speakers but I have used wired ones as well as the speaker.

have had my atrix 2 for 2 weeks on ATT and have experienced 5 reboots during this time. The reboots are random and have no rhyme or reason that I can pick out, sometimes when i'm surfing the web, sometimes when i'm on a call. amongst the reboot issues, i have connectivity loss for 20-30 seconds after a call, and today my speakerphone stopped working. It's going back, don't know which phone to get.

I am thickish of doing the full reset to stock and trying just doggcatcher. Annoying to listen to podcast and suddenly lose sound. Love the phone so I won't give up.

So I just registered on these forums to say that I have the exact same issue! It only happens when I'm listening to music (I've used PowerAmp, Winamp, Jukefox and stock player) and it's never failed me (well, you know)...

I didn't know if it was a hardware bug or software bug before I tried to return it to the store. I have a rooted Atrix 2 as well, but I did a factory reset about two weeks ago and installed far fewer widgets than before (which I thought were the culprits.)

Did you get anywhere with this?

I have no frozen apps. Did the uninstall of some AT&T bloat ware before I rooted.

I haven't done the factory reset yet because I was still testing scenarios. Glad to hear I am finally not the only one but sorry to hear that it is happening. Thinking of trying to uninstall all audio apps and try the stock music for podcasts

Update: I uninstalled lightflow after noticing that it requested superuser access after every unlock. Have not had a reboot in over a day. Keeping fingers crossed. Loved the function's of lightflow but not at the expense of my phone rebooting during audio playback

I meant to reply to this a few days ago, but have been kept occupied with exams.

I was excited that you mentioned Light Flow, as I had the same application issues with it. I uninstalled it and the problem went away--for around two days. It then began again, only a few times at first, but then multiple times in a row later. This did not fix it for me. (Which is fine, I loved Light Flow.)

Any word on your device?

Sorry about your issues still. I have not had a reboot since I uninstalled light flow. I too enjoyed the customization of the notification led but could not live with the reboots. I listen to too much audio daily.

I can only recommend looking at some of your apps that request superuser access and maybe tweak around with them. Best of luck

Happens to me quite frequently, debating returning mine before the 30 days is up. I hate to since I got it for $0 and it is dual core. I am rooted but have done nothing to the phone in the way of removing bloat or modding due to the fact until recently the phone had a way to restore to stock. It is annoying. Mine usually happens when sending a text. I only have Google music and a few bible apps and angry birds.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with this phone. Obviously, you like the phone, other than this. Could you try going to the store and telling them of your issues and that you'd like a new phone and, if not, you will be returning this one? I'm sure they'd rather keep you as a customer and return the defective one to Moto. Good luck on getting this fixed. This really is a great phone, and I can't believe how little attention is paid to it.
