Random Shutdowns After Unlock

Hi all

Got my nexus over the holidays and obviously just got tapatalk which was an awesome investment. My nexus was doing something weird and I wanted to see if it was happening to anyone else.

Three times now, randomly and without any warning, when I turn my phone on to the lock screen and pull down the notification bar to check either an email or text, my galaxy nexus just turns off. The first time this happened I was able to turn it right back on. But then it happened again, and when I long press the power button to turn it back on, I get a bunch of static lines on the screen instead of it turning back on. The last two times I've had to remove the battery and put it back in before the phone would even restart. Anyone else experience this?

I agree with taking it back. That doesn't sound like a common problem.

Shoot OK well I've been trying to repeat the incident so I can take it to them when its frozen, but it hasn't done it since. Argh haha now let's see if I can make it happen again!

Have you tried a reset?

In my experience, Verizon doesn't need to see the problem in order to exchange it for a new device--as long as you're still in your return period. In the past, I've gone into the corporate store, reported the problem, told them what I've tried (reset, uninstalling apps, etc). If they're satisfied that you've done everything they would do to solve the problem, they'll exchange the device.

Oh hmm well I haven't been able to recreate the problem, so should I still go in and get a new device?

Went in and got a brand new nexus. Works great! Thanks for the great advice!
