Has anyone experienced this yet? So far my insfuse has randomly shut itself down twice. I think both times after installing apps.

You mean your Infuse, right? But no, haven't had that problem. Only problem I've had is "disappearing" apps. But they have eventually found their way back home into the app drawer.

The one and only time thats happened to me was after downloading the beautiful widgets weather animation pack and then running the app to see what it looked like.

YES! And I can tell you more about this known issue to Samsung, that they can't seem to fix.

I owned the Captivate, had this issue. I finally determined how to mitigate it, but there is no great fix.

It happens when you charge your phone to 100%, or keep it charged up too much. Apparently the charging mechanism on the battery is faulty in some way in that it over-charges the battery. Don't plug it in so often. Yes, that is contrary to the advice on improving longevity of Lithium ion batteries, BUT that's the ONLY solution.

I was very sad to see this SAME problem existed when I upgraded to an Infuse.

I had them replace my old Captivate when it had this problem, and they sent me a clear refurb that had defect on the camera lens. I didn't bother with it again, but ..

So -- no more charging so much.

same here happens ones in a while,,,too late to return my infuse, stuck with it for the next 2yrs sux.

Never had this issue, but i also kill all my phones or get down to 20ish % before charging.

Yeah I get it too. Didn't know the cause, will experiment to see if it can be mitigated.

Couldn't some app be created to start using a lot of battery when the phone reaches 95% to keep it from reaching 100%?

I've had this problem on my Infuse, which I am rooted using a custom ROM but only noticed that it happened when I had too many apps opened and was downloading a bunch of apps.

I had this problem and then my phone would barely start and when it did it kept scanning the external sd card. I took the card out and the problem went away. I replaced the adata card with a Patriot and all is well again.

There was an app for the captivate to prevent charge death.....Captivate Keep Alive or something like that.
