Well I got the HTC One today. It's a nice phone, but HTC made a couple of odd moves. 1 is the lack of a settings/menu button. There is very often a stupid black bar at the bottom of the screen with 3 dots for settings. Total waste of space. 2 is not being able to add a wallpaper by holding down on the screen. Seems odd to not have this. Was a standard feature on every phone I've had.

I tried the S4 and really liked it but the One was $160 cheaper after the HTC trade in rebate thing. Gave them an old Blackberry worth nothing. I couldn't justify the price difference.

I'm genuinely befuddled why, when HTC needs a device to keep them relevant, they would try a new button layout. Google has given specific instructions as to the preferred layout, and most every user is used to three buttons.

I'll say again: genuinely befuddled.

They already took a risk with attempting a new camera strategy and the dual front facing speakers, so why bother tinkering with the one item that worked so well? It just seems like HTC tried a bit to hard and one poor idea made it into production.

Just root it and flash aokp, give your self a navigation bar and just change the launcher

After day one, I really like the phone but I looked at the S4 again today and must say it's a great phone too. But one thing I dislike about Touchwiz is the use of white text on black backgrounds. The email client is too dark.

Regardless we are experiencing exciting times people. There are so many great devices available right now and more to come. Let's enjoy it.

That's usually how I set my apps if I can, I like dark as long as I can see everything which I usually can.

I dont know why people keep complaining about touch wiz, this isn't IOS, if you don't like it, you can change to another launcher
Also, how is the email client too dark? Isn't it white?

I like dark for my background etc. But not where I have to type in any info or when reading. Makes it hard to read.

You seriously said "this isn't ios" to me? Really? I thought we were friends. :confused:

I know I can change the launcher. I even installed Nova on the One. But a lot of things are still built in to the phones system that have Touchwiz elements. I'm not a hater on Touchwiz. In fact some things are awesome. I just have found that Samsung uses black a lot which I don't like as much as a lighter theme. For example my Nexus 4 the email uses white throughout. I just prefer a lighter style.
