I use Win 8.1 only for Lightroom. Everything else various Linux distros.
The free upgrade from 8.1 -> 10 didn't go smoothly. First time it lost one of the large drives and it wasn't present - even in Admin tools - disk tools!
Went back to Window 8.1 and just did the upgrade again. Very very slow until I changed a few settings. Last night I went to shut down and the only option was to install an update and then shut down OR suspend, not install update later. WTF? So I let it update and a half hour later the dots are spinning - still shutting down. I held power button so it would shut the "f" off. No Init 0 option with Windows :(
The PC immediately powered back on - WTF? I pulled the power cord and went to sleep. I really hate Windows. But need to use it until Adobe offers a Linux version.

You're going to be waiting a while.

No issues on any of the machines I've installed 10 on. Only issue is that it told me my desktop was ready to upgrade without checking for an available video driver. After install I was stuck in 1024x768. I went to the Nvidia site, grabbed new drivers and I was good to go.

I only expect to wait until hell freezes over for Lightroom on Linux, lol. Good your upgrades went well. I just started out on an i5 machine a few years old. There are things I just hate about Windows. But I haven't really given 10 a chance yet. Just expressing a rant, not a conclusion.

Could you downgrade back to 8.1?

I also use Linux, but have Windows for certain things. I never upgraded to Windows 10 yet and might not.

Yes the downgrade works nice - 10->8.1. I give MS credit for that!
I made some setting changes to Windows 10 and it works much better now. What was frustrating was shutting the workstation down. One of the primary attributes of an OS is that it should shut down when I want it to. Not when it insists on downloading and installing updates first.

Unfortunately, the reason Windows 10 is free is because you're made into an unwitting beta tester. The free versions have forced updates with no way that I know of to delay/deny them. They use the results of those to fine tune before pushing to the paid business versions. Those versions can also delay updates depending on which pay level they are on.

Ran into my first system that didn't like Windows 10. Back to 7 I go with this machine I guess. Real shame, I find Windows 10 handles anything to do with Bluetooth so much better than 7.
