Same here. Moto has been known to be one of the worst with updates. Maybe this has changed?
I have had Moto devices in the past and have been happy with them but, until they improve their update policy, I won't touch them with a 10 foot pole.
What is their problem?
That wasn't always the case. Moto devices weren't budget around 10 years ago. I'm not sure what happened that changed things. They're a budget phone oriented company, so they cut corners wherever they can.
The problem is sometimes they get a little confused and release a budget/midrange phone, like the original RAZR, which had midrange everything, including software support, but charge flagship level pricing for it. It was $1500 USD at launch... substantially more than the ZFlip, but had much lower specs in every department, and lots of quality control issues, so it didn't sell too well. Plus I believe the RAZR and RAZR 5G only got one Android OS update for the $1500 asking price![]()

My all time favorite phone was the Razr V3. I loved the design. When I saw the similar design of the new Razr I was interested. It was the less than premium components that didn't sell me. Now that the "new" has abandoned the classic V3 design I've lost interest. It just doesn't look that much different than the Samsung Flip.I agree, and they still make some good phones in their budget range. My wife's Moto G6 has been an awesome phone... she loves it. Well worth the money.
I still remember when they made great phones that matched the Motorola name, a name that meant you were getting something special![]()
Yeah, Moto was great back in the day. So was HTC and LG, so sorry to see them disappear.
I loved my original Moto X. The gestures were such a unique and intuitive way to do different things. The curved rubber back was so comfortable to hold. I didn't use a case. Plus the phone was a great fidget spinner.I was a huge Moto fan for years. I had every version of the Moto X and even had an Atrix back in the day. What finally turned me away from them wasn't the security updates, which weren't awful actually (and the average user wouldn't notice) - it was the average to below average cameras that just never seemed to get better than just okay. My last Moto was the Edge which was fine, but the camera once again was just average at best. I finally gave up and went with Samsung. But my favorite flip phone will always be the original RAZR.
