RCS anyone?

I'm not even sure how I came across the article about RCS being available on the S10+. Maybe it isn't new to some of you but last I heard it was... spotty? not working as described? still not as good as iMessages?

Anyway I found the article and found a YouTube video on how to set it up. The article said it works with Google Messages and Samsung Messages. The video I found showed setting it up with Google so that's the one that I did. I haven't noticed much change yet but it's only been a day and I really don't text enough I guess to really see much difference. Using Google Messages is different. I miss the Messages+ driving mode feature, where it auto replied to texts while connected to my car Bluetooth.

Does anyone else want to talk about RCS messaging? What have you experienced? What app are you using it with?

RCS , is better video and picture message , also cool writing indicator and read receipts

Who is your carrier? RCS is also handled differently by each carrier.

I have T-Mobile and 2 phones: Note 8 and LG V40 and RCS is available on both stock messaging apps and both work great.

Well Google giveth and infighting, control mongering, money grubbing... Did I miss anything? Taketh away.

I haven't noticed anything special so if they break it I'll probably still be clueless. Reminds me of when they put out a soft root for the Rezound without unlocking the bootloader. I don't think I made it a month before they crushed that. Never tried to root again.

Oh, I especially like the last line. It's been awhile since anyone could say that so I feel like they threw it in just because they could. Lol

I understand the video/picture messaging thing, but honestly--those pale in comparison to using my computer to text.

I've used Google Messenger in the past, and I think it handles RCS--so both of those items are handled by that app. But, I've been using Pulse for awhile, and am sticking with that for now.

I'll happily give up the advanced video/picture messaging to have texting available on my computers.

If you use windows, you cam use the link to your pc, plus the your phone app. I haven been texting from my pc for quite a quite a while now. With Android 10 it works even better.

I just started texting from my computer. I sit every morning at the computer drinking my coffee and watching TV before work. It's so much easier to text from the PC and especially if I want to send a pic through text I used to have to send it to myself through FB messenger to get it on my phoneb for texting not anymore.

And if the other side isn't using RCS, it's a moot point.

I enabled it on my Unlocked Galaxy S10+ with a Verizon SIM in it. I also enabled it on my girlfriend's Verizon Galaxy S10. Works perfectly fine.

Yeah , working on my Note 10+ and 1+7 pro it disappear for 1+7p but came back.

I've had to turn off some settings for the RCS in Google messaging to stay connected.

I have to turn off my Ad Blocker.

At work, our wifi is tight. I have to turn off the wifi and use data only and the Google Messages stays connected. At home I don't have to do this. They have some very strict firewall at my work

For my Samsung or LG messaging apps, I don't have to do any of this and RCS works fine.

I've been kind of slow to adopt many of the Samsung apps. I made a post asking which universe where people most in, Samsung, Google or their own? If memory serves Google was winning out but more than a few said they were in a mixed experience using Google for some things and Sammy for others. A small number said they were in both equally or at least using the same products in each, maybe 2 or 3. Anyway, what I'm scratching at is I don't think experiences in either are equal for everyone. A lot of people liked the Samsung browser, it's so smooth, it's so fast, the button layout is... When I tried it I was lucky if a page loaded. It was like being on dial-up for me, and someone even posted the old AOL dial-up garble. LOL. I'm not in love with the Google Messaging app. I mean there are some things I could like about it but I kind of miss Messages+, blasphemy I know, I'm also not big on Verizon apps. They do stuff right until they screw it up. Don't even get me started. I may try the Samsung messaging app, kind of feel like I have before but just cannot remember. I just keep seeing myself going back to M+ for several reasons. No one I know is going to go through the steps to set up RCS so if isn't automatic I'm alone. I don't message enough to really just be sitting there watching someone check a message, then type their reply. I'm actually finding this about as useful as I found WhatsApp. No one I talk to regularly has it and you can't talk to anyone who doesn't, at least with this you can still message people. I also didn't like the invite everyone you know. Sorry, sell your own app.
