RCS enable mod any issues

You have to text to another phone w/Android Messages w/RCS hack. If the other phone does not have AM w/RCS hack then it won't work

A couple of us did that yesterday, and I saw Chat message in my message bubble. But later, with the same person, my message bubble went back to Text message. Must not be full-proof just yet.

One of my FB groups reported the same thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Didn't work for me even though mine says connected also.

Could be because it's in beta and might not work like stable version, but mines working on 2 devices.

i have a galaxy s8 with telus
i did all the steps many time
disable wifi
force stop google message beta
clear cache and data google message beta
clear data carrier services
set the 2 rcs line in activity launcher
force close google message beta
open google message beta
and here what i have
the first time i open google message beta
it says congradulation .....accept , then i receive a text for a google code and then the app open and show conneted
if i try to use only wifi ( go in plane mode )
it show no sms connection

so its there something i miss somewhere ?

I think this whole mod is buggy. mine stopped working after 1 day and it hasn't been right since

to be honest with everyone, even though I haven't tried the mod myself, I've read reviews from XDA developers the RCS mod can be buggy as well.

You need data on. Why are you going to only wifi and into airplane mode?

I've configured it but haven't tested it yet with anyone, so I don't notice any difference.

Well, it should say chat message versus text message. And try sending large videos it'll take 110 MB file size at once.

Anyone else hit the issue where you go to the set RCS flags page and can't scroll? I can set the two settings needed but can't scroll down to see apply. I've tried clearing cache on carrier services and msgs, enrolled and downloaded msgs beta, tried with WiFi off, etc etc. Anyone else?

Edit.. fixed by changing the screen display size to smaller

I'm going in airplane mode to use only WiFi so I can see if the rcs and google messages work on WiFi.
My understanding is the rcs intended is to ev able to end text via WiFi like the Apple messenger?

So far every time I try
Google message show I'm connect in data mode I can send and receive text

and airplane mode with WiFi it show connected but once I go try to send a text it show no SMS connection.

Maybe I'm all wrong too

I'm using the hack and saw the official version is out. I'm still having issues with it not working half the time. Should I drop the hack all together and do it the normal way?

I wanted to help anybody out now or in the future with what I learned setting up RCS. My wife's Moto g6 had the option waiting in the chat settings ready to be turned on..... I switched it on and it worked perfectly, her Moto phone continues to surprise me... very nice mid-range phone that was VERY well worth the $150 sale price. It has all the features my pixel has and so far they've worked better on her phone than my pixel. She loves it..... she'll now be a call screener for life LoL.

Setting up RCS on my pixel wasn't quite so easy.... but still pretty straightforward. I had the option just like my wife's phone to turn the feature on, but when I flipped the toggle to activate it, it said starting up and then the whole screen disappeared and I was left with a message saying your carrier doesn't support this feature. The set-up screen never came back.

The answer for me was to go into carrier services in the Google play store, where I found my carrier services were disabled, and with wifi connected (you need a wifi connection, data wouldn't work.... it specifically asked for wifi), I clicked on enable, and it immediately turned on and asked to be updated, which I did. After that I exited the play store and restarted my phone to be safe. As soon as I restarted and opened up my texting app it gave me the notification for new chat features, and asked me if I was in, then it took a few seconds to set up and is working perfectly ;-)

I hope this helps some current and future folks having issues getting their RCS working properly :-D
