AC Question

I have a Galaxy Core Prime, calls and SMS work fine, but if someone tries to send me a message as a chat (from my understanding the message app will automatically switch to Chat over SMS if the recipient is on Vodafone with Rich Communications set up) I do not receive the message, it is getting delivered to a lady called Amanda?

I have had a chat with Amanda (while trying to message myself from a colleagues phone) and she says she has been receiving my messages for weeks now.

I have switched the Rich Communications on/off in settings but messages always want to get sent to me in 'chat' rather than SMS regardless of its setting. I have also removed the sim and battery which failed to rectify. Done a hard reset of the phone, called Vodafone who claim its an issue with Samsung, i'm lost...

Welcome to Android Central!

It could be that somehow your chat settings got on her phone.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm missing SO many texts and I don't want to turn on RCS, but I think I missed a job interview because some guy keeps getting my text messages (I think via RCS?)

Welcome to Android Central! This is a very old thread about a very old phone, so you're unlikely to get a response from the people from earlier in the thread.

Do you know for sure that messages intended for you are being sent to someone else? Or is this just a suspicion or assumption?

Are the messages you're missing coming from iPhone users? That's a common issue that has more to do with the suboptimal interaction between iMessage and other non-iMessage devices

Thanks for your reply!

I am certain they are being received by another person. He responded to somebody saying that he had received many messages that were intended for me.

I don't know if they are iPhone users. I do know that one does use RCS, is that available on iPhone? If so then I'm not sure, and perhaps I'll dig and find out

iPhones don't support RCS yet, but will supposedly get it in iOS 18 (which is still in Beta). It remains to be seen how well this will work, because I wouldn't be surprised if it's still pretty limited (Apple really has no incentive to make it work, short of a legislative mandate).

You need to speak to your carrier about your messages being intercepted (either accidentally or purposely) by someone else. That should never happen, but I've certainly heard of instances like this. One concern would be if that other person is piggy-backing off of your IMEI.

If your carrier can't figure it out, it might be a good idea to ask them to change your number and issue a new SIM card. I would also ask them to do this at no charge, since this is a security issue, and it's something they need to solve for you.
