Reading text messages automatically via bluetooth

On Android from a L830 I still have it using a ZTE go phone now. Has almost everything except the mentioned cortana integration and lacks in groove in not reading any folders at all on the phone. Have a music pass. I do miss the live tiles but I'm learning to live without it.

Wow! I did the same thing. Actually loved my Windows Phone, but the App Store is so limited. Cortana is great for this, in the car.

Question: How to I get RedItToMe to only work when paired with my blue tooth in the car?

I've been using Tasker for a couple years to read me texts when connect via headphones or bluetooth. I can specify which bluetooth devices I want it to work with too (by MAC address) as I don't care to have it read them out loud when connected to my bluetooth speaker. Could further define to read out loud if I'm moving (in a car), only at home, or whatnot. Tasker is a fantastic app once you get past the learning curve!

I also want to leave windows...but can't

Same problem as original poster. Wifes Lumia phone is a POS, but the car integration is perfect. No buttons to push, no additional apps or hardware requried.

I looked at the video for Readittome...in the demo the app instantly reads the message.

On the wife's phone...it says you received a message from ---
So you can ignore or read it.

After you read it you can reply or cancel

etc...seamless.

It doesn't look like the Readitome app does that...and it appears the closest in functionality to the bone stock Windows phone.

Any updates on this topic...( I want to get the wife an S5 or S7 maybe...)

The MAIN reason I switched to a Lollipop HTC One M8 is PRECISELY because Microsoft is STUPIDLY dragging their feet adding MIRRORLINK or a decent facsimile to WP8 and now WP10. My Lumia was THE BEST bluetooth integration with my new Civic, but ability to lay in a GPS route in the hotel room, then just plug the phone in and see it in the car's IVI is REALLY THE CAT'S PANTIES!!! I'd get a new M$ phone in a HEARTBEAT if somebody hacked Android Auto into it so I could approximate mirrorlink functionality in WP10.

Why no smart programmer has taken up this challenge is way beyond me. Wish I had time to do it.

Thank you for the tip! This is working great now. I also turned on the feature to track parking. I never remember to hit a manual version of this when I park somewhere. Having this automatic should work out much better.

How's Agent working for you lately? The latest user reviews for it are not good, something about it having been transferred to a new owner and not being updated for a long time.

Anyway, in the same boat as everyone else. WAF has plummeted to new lows over this one issue after switching to Android. Lots of tears lol. As someone else mentioned, Readittome might be the best, but it doesn't ask before reading messages out loud. Agent now looks shady. And Google Now kind of sort of works, but it doesn't automatically notify over Bluetooth if a message comes in.

I'll chime in to offer that Agent, which was once awesome a while back, now is total crapware.
It seems that the company has been sold and the new owners are clueless.

Just use Google Now. You can ask it to "read my last 5 messages", or "read my last message". Works perfectly for me, every time. I can reply without looking at or touching the phone, and Google Now will read it back if I say "Read it", once it acquires my verbal message.

I've tried out, and purchased a bunch of apps for hands-free texting while driving and they all suck. You can look up my previous threads on the subject.

Google Now.
I love it.

Ok thanks for the tips billykac. Guess we will just have to stick with Google Now then.

I couldn't get Google Now to read text messages out loud but I found out there is a driving mode in Google Maps that works. To get it from the Google app, use OK Google, "turn on driving mode"

I have an LG V10, but having similar issues.. I was able to get SMS to be read over bluetooth just like Windows phones does, using this app.

SMS, My car and me..

BUT... it will only play over my stereo if its on the Bluetooth input, and it won't interrupt the Radio, CD, or SAT inputs (which i listen to most.) like a regular phone call does..
Wondering if anyone else can get it to interupt the Radio, CD or SAT like a phone call does.

AT&T Note 5 SM-920A UD .... When I activate Bluetooth with my car running I see in the N5 Notifications Area (ie) ReadItToMe Profile is Running with Kia Motors. I have tried Music Stream and (per app FAQ) BT Mono and I NEVER Hear any car Audio Announcement after Messages from my wife's iPhone 6 Plus are recvd in the Note 5. Although I've seen in the Phone App a Red "Off" when the Profile shows "Running" in Notifications, I've made sure to see a green "ON" for the App when I re-sent a test msg. Nothing works.

Any thoughts from CrazyFool_1 or Forum is much appreciated.

So far I have tried just about every one of the so-called text-to-bluetooth apps and none have worked as advertised. ReadItTo me has come the closest but still does not work correctly. I have sent email to the programmer but alas, no response. WHY cannot anyone create an app that is easy to use and WORKS?? I had a Lumia Icon and it just worked...AUTOMATICALLY! No complex set-up, no additional apps required...just turn it on and it worked! Miss that but as I said, with the amount of people creating apps for Android can't someone make one that is simple and works??? And why the HECK don't the developers respond to emails???

I've been looking for a solution on Android and I came upon this thread. My wife has a Priv and there's no native Cortana-like way to deal with SMS via bluetooth.

I would urge the dev community to come up with something in light of the legislation recently signed in California by Governor Moonbeam. Trust me, this will be on the books in all 50 states SOON.

This is why I use flagship Motorolas. Text messages get read back to me while I'm driving, all hands free.

While Windows phone still has the best experience for text to voice during driving, there are 2 apps that come fairly close. On the Google play store, try the app Drivemode. On the Galaxy App store (for samsung phones), try the app Car Mode. They will read the text without asking, but the rest is pretty similar to Windows phone. The only caveat is that they can be a big battery drain, so it's best to keep your phone plugged in.

I agree. My DD is a Moto X Pure Edition 2015, but the wife loves her Note 5,that's why I'm here trying to figure this out .
