Ready to pre order the 3XL from Best Buy and trade my unlocked 512GB Note 9 in...

Same here. I bought the Pixel 2XL in April because it was supposed to have the best camera. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. I didn't have it long enough to really know for certain. What I did know is that I'm not a "pure stock Android" fan. I missed my Samsung experience! For the first time, I let the overall phone be the deciding factor, not the camera and bought the S9+. Now I have the N9. I hope to never leave Samsung again.

I was a Samsung guy since the Note 3. Loved the Samsung experience until my GS8.

1- phone and screen are beautiful, but I can't stand the massive glare from the curved edges. No more curved edge phones for me.

2- wireless charging is the bomb... When it works. My GS8 stopped wirelessly charging about 3 months ago while my GS6 is still perfect.

3- Fast charging sometimes requires that I plug and unplug multiple times before it works, sometimes it DRAINS instead of charging. This happens with multiple chargers so it's definitely the phone.

The phone is still fast and flawless otherwise. I just think I need a new phone and I really want to try out Google's concept of Android (and I can't stand IOS).

Ok... So just some background... The cameras I've used from Canon.. rebel xt, 30d, 5d2, 1ds mkii, 7d... Nikon d700... And now Fuji x100, xt1, xt2.... I've had damn near every L glass that's under $3k...

The comparison photos you posted DO have differences... But what you're expecting out of a camera phone is ludicrous... You want low effort but perfect for all scenario camera phone and you'll never be happy...

People refuse to spend time to actually learn photography to better their photos and just want the latest tech to take care of their shortcomings...

So now you're jumping from Pixel 2 to note 9 to pixel 3... Cuz of the camera..... ROFL... If you have the money, then all the power to you... People that jump from flagship to flagship in the same year will ALWAYS justify their purchase...

Then you're not even gonna do the sale yourself... You're gonna trade it in... Wow.........

The camera may be "atrocious"... Ok... But you have zero photography skills... Why isnt that mentioned?

Ohhh and I see you're the guy that has the cracked screen under the whitestone... So what do you mean you're gonna trade in you're shiny new note 9? It's cracked dude...

People refuse to spend time to actually learn photography to better their photos ...

I'm going to pick on this one point you are trying to make because it really jumped out at me for some reason.

Let me preface my comments with the fact that I am not a professional photographer, not even close to an amateur.

Ok so... i don't disagree with you per se, but isn't taking a good picture literally dependant on a good camera? I mean... What time do you need to spend too learn photography?

Am I to understand that the pictures you as a pro and me as not a pro, take on the same camera, will look any different? I'm not sure how that would work. I mean you point the thing and press a button...

Also for the record I DO expect the technology to do all the work. That's literally the definition of technology. It's a tool to make our lives better.

Firstly, I'm not a pro...

A camera has limitations... There is no monster camera that records the entire dynamic range of every specific scene...

So you have to learn how to use it... Like a tool that's part of a process to achieve the goal you want... This is where most people mess up... They never learn why their photos suck.. or why the camera isn't doing what they want .. most people just come to conclusion that the camera just sucks and I'm talking between flagship to flagship... There ARE ****ty cameras in crappy phone... The OP posted example photos to make a point... I'm just saying that it was laughable...

The processing I've seen Samsung doing with low light is... Not great... The pixels def do great... But people want to point the flaw out like that's the main reason they can't live the phone when in reality, I'm betting their photography sucks and improving it would be more cost effective than jumping ship to ship but that's never mentioned...

Dunno if this matters but just for neutrality, I use a v35.. so I'm not on "team pixel" or "team Samsung"

If the camera has manual settings there could be a difference. The Pixels have no manual settings as far as shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

The only real changes you can make are HDR on, off, enhanced and flash on, off auto and white balance.

The Pixel is designed to be used mostly as an auto shooter. No where's near the flexibility of manual settings of the V35.

So I wonder... Between the example shots, what were the ISO differences?

Is it possible that the Samsung is using 6400 while Google uses 3200?? What was the shutter speed difference? Is googles chip back side illumated? I honestly don't know..

Only example photos were posted... And ones that really weren't that different too...

I would say it is just more people being spoiled by how the Pixel gets really good shots with little effort. If you haven't used one I could understand why you don't get it. It makes taking good photos ridiculously easy -- that is why it got all the praise it did (and still does) to this day... so people assume the Pixel 3 will (hopefully) follow that path.

Hey, Guys...

I have plenty of photography experience and have been using pro cameras for years. To include, but not limited to C5D2, N D850FX among others.... I also have a studio and shoot lots of different photos under a lot of different conditions. (I'll attach a random photo).

But I purposely haven't brought any of that up because that's not the point of the thread.

All I'm speaking about is how I was spoiled with the Pixel 2XL was so good at auto photos that I was blown away. I was just taken aback when the Note 9 choked at first.

I'm not, nor would I ever, compare a phone camera to a $4K+ piece of equipment.... Just phone-to-phone.

That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

(oh, and Verizon juts replaced my screen, so it's back to normal).

..... Just curious if I was alone.

Thanks for listening.20181004_190108.jpg20181004_190056.jpg
