Really Annoying Issue Charging and Connecting to PC

Ok so I should first state that these issues never occured before I dropped my phone (about a distance of 2 feet at the very most onto a wooden floor, developed a slight crack on the screen) however I don't believe that alone should justify this issue, I last had the EVO through sprint and switched to Verizon a little over a month ago because they were the first to get 4G in my city.

So what is happening now is only whenever I plug the phone in, regardless of whether wall or PC. Right when I plug it in when the phone is off the strobe flash lights up, sometimes it decides to start up on it's own without me turning it on myself. Also while it's plugged in and I try to go horizontal screen view 1 of 3 things will happen, the phone does the strobe flash and reboots, the phone will simply stop charging until I plug it back in or the battery indicator goes grey with an '!' mark over it.

Also my computer is not recognizing the device at all, and my phone doesn't give me any connectivity options (charge only, sync, disk drive, hotspot etc)

Lastly, this could just be Verizon's fault, but I find myself in 1x more than usual, takes a lot of rebooting, airplane mode on/of & toggling with LTE/CDMA to get my 4g back when this happens... I have also already tried the ##778# command > edit > 000000 pw > modem settings > rev a enabled but 1x still came back on later. Right now 4g has been on for the last couple hours so hopefully it was just the network but *shrug*

I'm just really frustrated and I feel there's no way all of this should occur from such a slight drop. I can't even recall the ammount of times I dropped my EVO with ZERO technical issues...anyone know whats going on?? Can any of this be reversed on my own?? I didn't get the insurance and I don't want to fork over the cash for a Razr or Nexus yet.

It may not be from the drop. But with a cracked screen you are pretty much toast. Might as well be water damage as far as warranty goes. Tough break.

I understand, i'm not going to go through htc repair. Wondering if there's anyway i can take care of the issues that occur when trying to charge the device (esp connect to pc) i've already upgraded htc sync but my pc still fails to recognize my device.
Lastly, is the bolt really this fragile? Never even gotten a crack before on any other phone with all of the drops i've had, especially the evo. So odd....

Don't think so, thought it had to be in the 30 days? Of course i'm just outside of that. My luck is most always pretty much trash

I thought you had more thime than that, though I'm probably wrong. Maybe someone else will know for sure?

Your pretty much toast even if you where in the 30 day policy it does not cover cracked screens and what sounds like water damage. You are better off sending it back to HTC or looking for a 3rd party mobile phone repair company.

I understand but verizon's insurance does cover accidental. Also no water damage. There's gotta be some way i can fix this issue if it only happens while charging, again i don't want to drop the cash on a razr or nexus just yet, such a small crack on the screen. I can't believe the TB is so frail. Never had anything like this happen with any phone

Its possible even though its a small crack on the screen that something internally got messed up. You might be able to buy a battery charger adapter that will let u charge the. Battery outsids the device but that still may not fix your problem

That's what i assumed it's just so bizarre this phone is that weak. Had i known i defintely would have got the insurance but i guess i'll just wait till the price on the droid razr drops a bit. I can wait this out, problem only occurs when i'm trying to use the phone with it charging, it's so odd.
That option of charging the battery does sound good, but it doesn't fix the connect to pc issue which is how i get all my music on my phone. Is there any other way to get the music from my pc to my phone? If i attach files to an email could that work?
Also do you have any links to products that could charge my battery externally? Not sure where to start & i'm at work so no time to look around just yet.
Everyone's help is appreciated

That one won't work actually, the evo shift's battery is bigger than the thunderbolts. But thank you for putting me in the right direction. Going to look into it some more.

You can try Dropbox for moving your files if the connection to your PC won't work. It's a bit of a pain moving files around but that might get you through until you get this resolved. I think there's a 2GB storage limit for the free account so you may need to move files then delete stuff to keep under the 2GB limit. There may be other services that do the same thing but I'm not aware of them. Attaching the files to emails will work but you may run into a file size limit for each email.
