I don't understand why the Rezound, come on the thunderbolt should be the first to get ICS as soon as August hits. I'm a thunderbolt owner and I'm just speechless on the lack of HTC and there updates.

Um...yeah. The Rezound is a newer phone, so of course it will get the update first. Since the release of Android have we ever seen a time when it is the older phones getting priority when it comes to updates? No, newer phones have more compatible hardware, sell better and make more money for OEMs and carriers...so that's where the R&D effort is going to go.

To be honest, I'm shocked the Rezound is *just* getting the update.

HTC and/or Verizon aren't gonna sell any more Thunderbolts regardless of what OS it has on it at this point...so do you think they really care?

I had a thunderbolt and its a good phone but it doesn't hold a candle to the rezound! With this update it made the gap even further!

Good point.

I am one of those Rezound owners, and I totally get what you're all saying and feeling. My sister owns a Thunderbolt and I sure hope you all get the ICS update. It's pretty nice.

I know you all have been waiting for a long time. I purchased my Rezound in January on the documented promise from Verizon that ICS would be available for Rezound in early 2012.

A lot of Rezound owners have been having fits for months. In fact, I tried to install a leak last week and things didn't go the way they were supposed to, so another Rezound forum member and I were all set to try again this weekend, when miraculously the update was pushed. I truly didn't think it was going to happen, so there is hope for Thunderbolt owners!!

To be honest, I am not in any hurry to get ICS for my TBolt. Yeah yeah yeah, it would be nice to get it and all, but, what's the big deal...most of us will be upgrading (one way or another), within the next 6+ months. To me, what is important is that BIG RED get's their 4G on/off issues fixed. I would gladly wait a month for that instead of waiting to get ICS. Besides, once there is an unofficial/official "leak" of it..the developers will be on that like ugly on a a dog.

I'm looking forward to getting ICS because I want Chrome and I'm hoping the update fixes the wifi and network connectivity issues I've been experiencing since the last OTA.

Apparently you missed out on the joys of being a Droid X owner, where the phone that was marketed to be the first phone to have Adobe Flash on it received the update to Android 2.2 almost 6 weeks after an older phone, the original Droid did. A phone that no longer sold well, had older hardware, and didn't make the OEM, Motorola, more money than the Droid X.

Please get your facts straight. Since the dawn of Android it's ALWAYS been older phone gets update before newer phone. There's been exceptions but that's the standard most of the time. Thunderbolt owners got screwed out on what was supposed to have been a flagship device before they ever made it through one fourth the life of the device (and contract renewal period.)

Stop defending them. Please. Consumers should demand, not give in. The day consumers give completely in to corporate greed and laziness is the day we stop progressing as a growing civilization.

Call in to complain. After a few clnr, verizon offered me a rezound as a warranty replacement. Obviously ymmv, but i know others have been able to as well.

If you bought the tbolt near release, then you had the option of one year contracts, I paid $30 more for my TBolt on a one year contract, and to me well worth it, since I was able to use the tbolt line to get the GSIII on subsidized 2 year contract pricing and keep unlimited data.

I hate installing new radios and ics will force me to do that. Will there be a rooted ruu that includes the radios like the ota would?

Century Link aka qwest is promoting The Thunderbolt. So even though corporate Verizon has retired the bolt,it is still available in AZ with Century Link.
All updates come from the manufacturer NOT the carriers. When HTC has it for the bolt they will notify Verizon. I have talked to HTC just for the heck of it....and they DO say the upgrades come from them.
I miss you guys. I loved my bolt. I hope you get ICS soon. The day the Rezound landed at my door ICS was released. Both the Rezound and ICS are good. And it will hopefully fix the bolt problems.
Take care
J

The updates come from the manufacturer, but after submitting to verizon, verizon will review it and push it when they want. There isn't a direct way to get an official update from the manufacturer. Of course, there are leaked ruu, but again, they are not official releases until verizon pushes it ota.

I forgot to say when its released then the carriers release...when they want. Lol. I remember they didn't like an update RIM had released and postponed. Verizjn tests the updates first. I have no complaints. I am glad they are cautious
