So for all the hassle I went through to get this phone I am starting to question if it was really worth it. This thing is beautiful, light, swype its great, awesome big screen, but I was more excited about the phone when I was waiting to pick up my pre order from best buy. Maybe I haven't fully tapped into thisthings potential but does anyone else feel the same way or have any really cool points or tips about what they have done with their phone.

Also soul I stick with my snap on case or go with the full skin that is made by nasa that you apply to your phone with the life time guarantee? If plastic car what do you recommend brand wise???

Thanks everyone!

the battery life is my sticking point. I was a hardcore BB guy and this is my first leap into something else. Surprisingly I love this phone, but the battery life really really sucks. I'm used to pluggin in at night, but not making it through a full day sucks and is a major tripping point, turning off all the options that make the phone great isn't an "option" my BB did it, why can't this?

With that said, with all the things this phone does so much better, it'd be hard to go back to a BB

I have the snapon case that best buy sells. I love it. It was pretty cheap in terms of price and it doesn't add a lot of bulk to the device. It has a soft touch finish that works well for me since the device is in and out of my pocket a lot so it doesn't stick like skins do.

I love this phone, coming from long time BB user.
My ONLY issue is battery life, it is less than stellar to say the least.
I am using (and highly recommend) InvisiShield by Zagg and love it.

Im with you on this one bud. I was very amped up when getting the device but now with all the glaring issues Im having, its not worth the $500 price tag. Some will say, well wait for updates. Well for me personally, I dont put much stock in updates. Seing as how the last update for my Inc didnt fix many of the issues I was having with it, I doubt the problems Im having with my X will be fixed in an update.

My X is going back until I read theyve fixed many of the glaring issues with the device. I can manage with my Inc for awhile.

Someone send him a Storm 1 and see if his opinion changes! lol ...but no, really.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration makes phone skins?

For me, it has totally been worth it! Just to be able to SEE everything on the big screen makes it a success story personally. I've had no issues with the phone like some have had (lucky?). I can never go back to a smaller screen, again. Battery life is what I expected, coming from the Eris. I have a charger wherever I go, and am able to keep it charged up, regardless.
I feel if you got one that wasn't performing up to par, I'd return and get another one. That is what I'd do.

Wanna know what I went through to get my DX on release day?

I first had to find a store that still had some in stock which wasn't actually too bad. When I got to the store, the rep asked me to pay for the new line (I was adding a second line to get it), but little did I know it charged my card a hefty $400 in deposit. After about two hours of the rep trying to help other customers while still helping me, I called my bank and had them return the money. The rep then let me buy the phone by adding a new line without paying a deposit (I'm 18 with no credit score so they require a deposit when I activate a line. I'm supposed to get my $400 back for my first line in January).

The whole process took about 3-3.5 hours but I walked out with my DX and so far for the week I've had it, I've been liking it so much more than my Droid1. I just can't wait to sell my D1 now.

For me it was totally worth it.

I didn't really have any hassles other than just waiting for it to be released so I could ditch Sprint and Blackberry. I stayed up late, ordered it online and waited for fedex to show up on my porch. That being said, I love this phone. It is by far the best phone I have ever owned.

The Droid X is simply the best Android out right now. Yes, I was very iffy about this phone prior to the software update which in my mind, sealed the deal for me. The battery life is really good given the fact that it's a standard battery. With my battery life now, I will not purchase an extended.

So yes, it was worth it. The big screen is amazing and I will say that once you try a screen this size, it is hard to go back to anything smaller. In summary, the phone is about as big as you would want a cellphone to get. Any bigger is pushing the limits and thats the wrong way to go. The X has the right size in height, with and thickness.

Please tell me what you have done to get the battery life? I have BT off GPS off I turn on the wi-fi when I am going to be somewhere for a while and know that will use it. I have my screen set at the lowest setting and the phone switches to off or what ever it does during the time between 10 and 6 am. I am getting like 6 hours. My berry I left gps on BT was on and I streamed radio at least 4 hours a day and some times I would watch movies on it. I could not even watch one movie on this unless it was plugged In. Streaming radio forget about it it would die almost instantly. gps was not to bad I used it about 15 minutes and seen a 10% drop.
I love this phone but when I talked to Vz they said most are starting to carry 3 batteries to make it through the day. If I tried to use this like I did my berry it would take 3 batteries to make it through the day. Please help

After the update my battery life is great. Today I watched a 2 hour movie on Blockbuster, an hour streaming video podcast from engadget, browsed for about an hour, and about 30 texts, all that took me down to 30%. Not too bad. And I have battery manager on performance setting too. BT, wifi, and gps were all off.

Given my usage level (today was a bit higher then normal but not much), I easily last 18 hours.

I'm with u man I'm thinking about switching to sprint for the EVO cause my buddy has it n after comparing the two the EVO is a better device in my opinion

As a been there and back and there BB user, I can tell you why a BB gets "better" battery life in your opinion. There isnt anything about OS5 that compels a user to use the phone from the time you get up till the time you call it a night.... BB OS'es are boring.

Android is a totally different story... the fact that you are complaining about battery life on the X, is proof that your new phone is more than just email/BB.

Once the aura of having a more robust OS wears off, your battery life will improve. :p

I had an Evo that was returned due to build quality issues. After I got the Dx, I thought I preferred the Sense UI and camera on the Evo, so I went and purchased another Evo.

Once I had them side by side, I couldn't justify keeping the Evo over the Dx after seeing the difference in build quality and more importantly, the screen. I don't know if you've had a chance to put them side by side but the difference is huge; browse to the same web page on both phones or play the same youtube video on HQ...there's just no comparison

The Evo's camera is definitely faster and the flash seems brighter resulting in better action and indoor shots but personally, I just couldn't give up the much better screen for the marginally better camera.

And I thought I preferred the Sense UI but after getting used the Dx's UI, Sense seemed a little outdated and overstyled to my eyes.

Both are great phones but the difference in screen quality is so big that I suspect it would be a deal breaker for many. It certainly was for me.
