Rear camera has gone dead

The well acclaimed 20.7MP camera is now giving me a black screen and nothing more.
While the front 2MP works normally.
I called up sony support and they suggested I should do a repair thru PC Companion, which i did with no results.
Now I have the biggest camera mounted on a mobile to day rendered useless...
Any ideas?

Call Sony back and ask if they have any actual repair facilities. If not, ask around for a repair shop with a good reputation for honesty (I know there must still be one - I owned a few before I retired) and bring the phone into them for an estimate. (It probably needs a new camera module. The module is in the $25 range, so expect to pay up to $100 for the repair. Less means someone who doesn't know what he's doing or an honest shop. I would have charged about $65 for parts and labor.)

You went through Sony level 1 support (turn off and back on, reset the software etc) and now you have to go back to them and say yes I did all that and it's still not working. Assuming the phone hasn't been dropped or wet they should repair it.

I just went through the same thing with a dead touch screen.

They don't seem to do advanced RMA replacement though so you will be without the phone for two or three weeks.
