Reason For Using a Case

So I've always wondered the different reasons we like to use a case with our phones. Apart from keeping it scratch free, or protecting it from a drop though, does anyone have a more specific use when it comes to buying the type of case you buy for your phone?

I personally like to buy big, rugged cases for one reason and that's for comfort. I don't know if anyone feels the same way specially those individuals with big hands, but I hate how thin phones keep on getting because I have big hands and using it without a case feels uncomfortable to use. I like buying cases for the added thickness to make my phone feel more comfortable to use. And also since I bought the Samsung case with a kickstand for my Galaxy Note 8 I may be adding that requirement as well for future cases.

I use to be a case junky. I had tons for the look of them and to protect my phone. Ever sense becoming a minimalist I literally now own one case and only place it on my phone when at work to protect it. Once I get in my car to leave work it comes off and stays off. I love the build of the iPhone much more so now and want to use the phone as it was intended to be used. CASELESS!

I understand what you're saying - I'd have at least three cases per phone so I could change up the look of it as well as add some extra protection! But yes, there's something about that case-less look and feel! What kind of iPhone do you have?

I have the iPhone 7 and will probably have it for at least another 2 years. I’m going to see how long I can go without an upgrade. I’ll uograde my wife’s and daughter. But I’m going to keep mine.

Sounds like a plan! Glad you're enjoying it!

my thing is you're investing in getting a smart device... the least you can do is protect it. including a screen shield and a case minimally, followed by insurance. but some people just... well like to live life on the edge- til their phone breaks and they're stuck with a paperweight

But when their phone teeters OFF the edge - of a desk, table, etc...

That's when living life on the edge is bad.

🤣

I watch a lot of videos using my phone, so the rubber cases stop the phone from slipping when propped up against something. I'm not a fan of kick stands, so this is the best alternative. Protecting the back of the phone is a bonus. On the P20 Pro, having a case on feels like a sin, but the pre installed screen protector is so flush, the case makes me forget that is on there too.

hello every one
the main reason to use a case is to protect your phone when your phone is falling
and also case save phone body

You are right! I prop my phone up a lot while watching videos - but I've never thought that the case helped keep it in place. But it totally does!

Besides protection I buy cases to give me a better grip on my phone as most of these phones are glass sandwich designs they tend to be slippy.

I have also ordered a Standing Case for my Note8 as I do consume a lot of video (YouTube, Series and Movies) on my Note8 and find it difficult to get it to stand at an angle when I am aty desk.

I do wish phones came with Kickstands these days, as the old Nokia N96, N86 8MP phones did.

Always used belt holsters from way back with the old Nokia 3310.

My job dictates jeans and T-shirt so no pockets available for a phone and I would never place the phone in a pocket of my jeans as I've witnessed so many disasters doing that.

So, belt holsters for me for years gone by and years to come.

The phones that were used before the smartphones were introduced, were designed to break apart when the phone fell. The covers and battery would scatter and absorb the shock. In modern phones, there are hundreds of components that can only be saved if we can use a case that can shield the phone from shocks.

I use case to protect it in case I will drop it, have also tempered glass protection. However I admit, I like look of my phone without case, thin and neat, but in general I decided to prioritize protection over looks.

The S8 active solves many problems above. As a Samsung fan, I have been most impressed with the build quality, better than the 7 or 9.

I'm clumsy. A heavy duty case helps with that.

Yup!

I bump into walls in my apartment whilst using my phone (in my defense, I'm normally listening to music when that happens and moving quickly from one room to another) - so yeah, a case is a must... 🤣

I use a case that has magnets and sticks to a wallet type outer case. I use that in my purse with drivers license, credit card, etc., but take the phone off at home.
