Reboot and partition clearing

I'm having a quirk with the android email app, and was considering either a reboot or clearing the partition...is there any harm in doing this? Will it un-install or remove any settings? I'm trying to avoid a factory reset...

first try a reboot. if still not working then clear cache. it won't delete anything

Ok, thanks...the S5 is much easier with a battery pull.
