Eris App Limitation (Memory used 80%+) beware...

I'm curious how many of you actually turn your phone off (power down)?

I've noticed that if I turn my phone off when it boots back up I lose all cellular service and then I get several processes that force close, requiring me to factory reset my phone? Talked to verizon and they sent me a new phone. today I reloaded all my apps used it for a day, then decided to reboot the phone (power down and power up). boom happens again, no more service force close processes.

I assume I have an app issue so I'll have to figure out whats up. I'd be curious to dare everyone on the board to power off their phones and see if they have the same issue, then maybe we can post all the apps we have, and see what we have in common.

Processes that force close on boot:
com.android.phone
com.google.process.gapps
com.htc.music

*sigh*

I power mine off all the time. I also have had a similar experience (having to hard reset) to you a few weeks ago. I have since gone easy on the type of apps I install. I still have the occaisional reboot.

Turn off your phone, then hold down the Menu and Power/Hang Up buttons, and keep holding them through the splash screens until your phone boots. You’ll see "safe mode" in the lower left corner and none of your neat stuff like home replacements will be present.

I tried the Menu and power/hangup doesn't seem to do anything on the Eris, the Menu button is a soft(touch) key, not sure if the droid has it as a hard key.

I think I've narrowed it down to a few apps, in various combination. I found someone with similar issues on another android forum, so im not alone :)

-WORKS-
Wifi Analyzer (no)
Skype Lite Beta (no)
Yelp (no)
Backgrounds (No)

Wifi Analyzer (no)
Skype Lite Beta (YES)
Yelp (NO)
Backgrounds (No)

-NOT WORKING-
Wifi Analyzer (no)
Skype Lite Beta (YES)
Yelp (YES)
Backgrounds (No)

*SOLVED* at least my issue.

There must be an app/memory limit on the Eris (and apparently on the Hero).

I was testing various combination's of Wifi Analyzer, Skype Lite Beta, Yelp, Backgrounds and some odd combination's were working and not working. So I figured why not try installing a larger app (weather.com app) and see how it played out. Apparently there is a memory issues based on how much free space is left after so many apps being installed into the ram(duh, but I wasn't originally keeping track). I doubt its an APP count issue, as I simply removed one 3MB app, then installed Wifi, Skype, Yelp and Backgrounds which combined dont equal the 3MB, and restarted and everything works fine.

Obvious Point: When total memory used gets around 80%+ of total RAM, processes start to die on reboot. they must compete for loading space and fail if they don't get it.

side note: I have 94 apps installed using 74% memory.
