Reboot Map

After reading this thread I decided to create a map to track the locations of those who have experienced a reboot issue to help determine a network related pattern.

To add your location, simply click on the Add Marker link at he top left of the map toolbar.

Here is the map: Verizon Reboots - CommunityWalk

i had this exact idea once i had my first reboot & heard it might be caused by tower handoffs--something with the UI like Sensorly Map (for cell signal coverage)

great implementation!

I tried kwright817 map without success and created an account to see if that would make a difference and nope. I created a test map to see if I can edit and make it publicly available for edit. I don't think you make it publicly editable by others.

It's a good idea. Has anyone been able to add a location?

Somehow late last night I neglected to add a bit in my original reply. Creating an account does not make it available for edit. On my test map I don't think you can make it public available for edits. Someone is going to have to manually enter all the coordinates or addresses.

Believe google maps gives an option for anyone to edit under Collaborate so that may be a better option.

As long as kwright817 doesn't mind, it is his idea after all and I don't want to steal any thunder or ideas. Being laid off and looking for work I've got plenty of time to create and do nothing. LOL VZW Thunderbolt Reboots - Google Maps

I think you have to sign into google first, but I setup the map for anyone to edit. Maybe this will work?

Go for it. I tried clearing cache and was still able to edit it just before posting. However, after going back later, I could not. It must rely on a cookie that expires or something.

Is possible that only the original owner can edit? I see a couple of people added to the Google map.

Perhaps, but I was the original owner and I can no longer edit or add to it :p

Interesting, I was thinking that we should do red markers for everyone with reboot issues and green for everyone without issues. We map both just to see how it turns out?

I'm not going to add a green or a red. I think I have had two reboots now. Not a perfect zero, but not an issue.

Lincoln, Alabama. Passing through on the way home. Maybe a hand-off from tower to tower issue? New vs. Older towers?

Eden, Alabama. Traveling home from Atlanta on I-20. No problems before, now 2 reboots in 7 minutes. Hmm.

Added 2 locations in MA where I find myself regularly. Reboots everywhere but I couldn't pick the entire state. :p
