Receive a text & screen turns on-how to disable?

Hey Y'all,
Quick question. My screen turns on to the lock screen every time I receive a text (or mms) and it is driving me nuts! I would like to just hear the sound and see the LED light up. I am using Light Flow to control the LED colors and have looked at every option to disable the screen waking up to no avail (side note: is there a better app for LED color control?). So, any assistance would be very much appreciated!

It may be worth trying Safe Mode. I had related problems some time ago on a G3....turned out a third-party app was the cause.

If you would switch to Textra, there is a setting that you choose not to let Screen wake up.

I think you have to install G4 tweaksbox.
