Received a refund check from Verizon

Bought the note 7 on a new 2 year contract. Have done nothing regarding trading it in, exchanging, or returning. Hoping to hold out as long as possible as I'm not really interested in any other phone currently on the market. Randomly got an email saying my refund has been processed and have now received a check. Could their be any harm in cashing this considering I am still using this phone and have no plans to get rid of it? Not sure if I am extremely lucky or if their is some hidden catch. Thanks

As with the other threads on this subject, this insinuates the promotion of fraud and therefore falls under the illegal activities section of our Community Rules & Guidelines. The obvious ethical decision would be to notify Verizon of their error, return or destroy the check or to return the device and accept the refund. Good luck sorting it out.
