Has anyone been able to receive vcf files (Outlook Contacts) via text message on their Thunderbolt? I received two today (for the first time since I got the phone) and got the following error every time I try to open them:

"The process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I only have the choice to Force Close when this pops up on the screen.

I received both files from someone using an IPhone. I really need them and I'm hearing it for not being able to open them. :p I've tried rebooting (Thanks to a suggestion from someone on a FB Thunderbolt page) but it doesn't help.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks!

If you are in the presence of the person who is trying to send them to you, try bump. it is an app for iphones and android phones. you can bump the two together after choosing the contacts and it will transfer them across platforms. I can't help with the vcf files thru text, but bump has helped me several times.

I had that same problem when I tried sending mms. Then I sent the contact via email & it went straight into my friends contacts. Pretty slick. Thanks for the bump app. I am so downloading that right now.

Thanks for the bump app suggestion. The person I'm trying to receive them from is in Cabo on vacation tho. I'm going to call HTC today and find out why I'm receiving this error. Will let you all know after I speak with them.

I ended up e-mailing HTC Support today and just received the following response:

I understand the MMS process is crashing when you receive an Outlook contact file. The device is expecting to receive a single contact when it receives an MMS message with an attachment. If you want to import more contacts or contacts formatted from Outlook ask the other party to email it to you and save it to the storage card. Then open the People application and press Menu>Import/Export>Import from SD card and you will be able to import the contacts.

As far as I'm concerned, this really isn't an answer and a bug needs to be opened on this issue which was my response back to them.

Have them email it to your gmail. Gmail through the browser will import any contact type.
