Receiving pics via SMS/Text

I have received a couple of pics via text and each one shows as if it were a video. It has the play button and when I click on it, it plays for 5 seconds but it is clearly a picture. Any ideas?

Getting the same thing, my friend. When you actually download it to your SIM card (or integrated storage) it'll save as a regular picture. I know it's irritating for the time being, but at least this was my little "fix."

If anyone has better suggestions please let us know!

Thas how it worked on the Atrix and another brand also, guess it Android. Although my Captivate didnt do it

im using go sms, much better and does not have the "video" issue with mms messages.

Looks like that is the stock messaging app that is doing it. I switched to handcent and I get pictures, as pictures.

I think it's the preferred way of AT&T handling them. But I can't be sure.

I haven't noticed any other android phone on other carriers doing it like this.

I have this problem as well. It's irritating, but mainly because it hasn't been ironed out yet. It's a pretty basic phone function. It should be bug free.

I dont think its a bug. Its just the way the stock messaging app handls mms messages.
Try another app or just ignore the play box . On any phone once you open the picture you only get a few second preview anyway before it goes back to the preview
