Receiving texts on my iPhone instead of HTC?

Hi guys first I would like to thank anyone who helps me, so yeah. Alright my problem is I just recently switched from a iPhone 4 to a HTC one m8 and I noticed something. I'll get text messages on my new phone from people who have android phones or other phones, but when my friends with iPhones send me messages they go on my iPhone. Anyone know how I can fix this problem? You see you can still send messages from Apple to products to Apple products because it doesn't matter about service or not, but I want the messages on my new phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Apple have released an online tool you can use to unregister your number from their iMessage server. I don't have a link handy but a Google search should find it
