Recent apps after pushing home button

I'm not sure when it started, but I find it extremely annoying.

While in an app, and then pushing the home button, the phone brings up the recent app page. All I want it to do is bring me back to the home screen. Is this new with the 4.3 update or is there a setting I accidentally enabled?

Are you holding down the home button? If you just tap it it should bring you to the home screen, but if you hold it down it will bring up the recent apps.

Yeah, thats what I thought I was doing at first. But no, I just tap it and it brings it up
