Recent Apps

Good morning.

I need your help.

I have a Xiaomi Poco (I've attached screenshots so you know the model better).

My problem is with the Mega app (a cloud storage service like Dropbox or OneDrive).

I noticed that if the app is in recent apps, the app sync works. Now, when I remove it from those recent apps, it stops syncing.

The first thing I did was seek help from Mega support.

They told me that some devices, like mine, consider closing "Recent Apps" as completely closing the app, even if I have added it as a blocked app so it always stays open.

Following this response, I asked if anyone else had the same problem and what solution they had adopted. However, much to my regret, they couldn't offer me any alternative.

For this reason, I'm writing to ask if anyone can provide me with a solution, even if it's just installing an app, to prevent it from closing if I make a mistake and delete it from my recent apps.

Here's a video:

Thank you very much.

Some manufacturers (especially Chinese ones) tweak the firmware to make the RAM management pretty aggressive (i.e., killing apps in the background in a misguided effort to improve battery life). This may include killing an app when it's swiped away in the Recent Apps, and/or preventing it from running in the background. Check your system settings to see if there's an option to allow the app to work in the background. If there are any options or apps that claim to "optimize" memory or battery, check them to see if there's an option not to optimize or restrict that app.

Yeah, thanks a lot for the explanation.

Look, I'm attaching two screenshots so you can see that I've disabled the app's battery saver and allowed it to auto-launch in the background.

Isn't there a way to prevent this behavior through an app?

Sometimes no matter what options you choose, the firmware might still be aggressive about task killing. I experienced this with my old TCL Tab 8, which would kill any streaming music app (like YouTube Music or Spotify) if it went into the background, even though I have premium subs for both (which allow for background playback) and had tweaked every battery and memory option I could find. It can be really frustrating, which is one of the reasons I tend to stick with Pixels (since Google doesn't mess around with this kind of thing).

Perhaps other Xiaomi users like @Madd62 or @dangerousfen could comment on this based on their experience. It may also be worth contacting Xiaomi support to see if they are aware of this issue. https://www.mi.com/global/support/contact/

I won't be much help at the moment. I'm sure I did find a method to stop killing open apps, but I can't remember how, and I'm in the habit of closing apps in the Recent tab anyway. I had noticed some opened apps such as apps for the latest train and bus time do default back to the search start page at times, but you do have to reconfigure settings on MIUI / Hyper OS occasionally.

Do you have Mega listed in the Accounts and Sync section? I can't think why you would need to leave the app open and hanging in the Recents / Open tab.

I tried to add Mega app, but there's no option to do that.

So, I'm going to write to Xiaomi support.

Thanks, guys.

I added Mega from the Play Store 2 days ago.

There is a feedback and queries setting on the phone.

You can try locking it to your recent apps that way it doesn't get cleared out to make room for other apps , also try long pressing the app then tap info>battery set unrestricted I'll show an example in my screenshot

The only other suggestion I can say is clearing the app launcher Data then force stop it Incase it's glitching but it will reset all your home screen customization.
