How do I set up my recent apps? Every time I click it nothing show up. Any ideas?

Are you using OK Google? There's a bug affecting several users, and for most of them the recent apps list shows up empty after opening an app with OK Google.

I do use ok Google but not for apps

You could try disabling it temporarily and see if the problem persists. Take a look at this thread.
