Reception issues while holding phone

First of all let me start off by saying I love my Nexus 6. With that being said I live in a basement which has very poor reception. If my phone is lying on the bed and I'm using speakerphone it works just fine. As soon as I put my hand on the phone any section of it, the reception drops down to almost nothing. I do have it in a clear spigen Case. This is noticeable by the signal bars and also the signal strength is in the settings menu when I hold the phone. Outside of the house I never have any issues with the reception while holding the phone. The same goes for the data connection when I am holding the phone versus not holding the phone. This is visible by using a speed test application.
