I'm looking for an app - or maybe no app, just a technique - to grab an image from a video and turn it into a decent-res photo. I've seen friends with iphones do this - for a group shot, so everyone can be in it, they prop the phone up, shoot ten seconds of video, and miraculously, somewhere in there is one frame where everyone looks photo-worthy, and they turn that into a jpg.
I've tried two apps so far and found them underwhelming:
What I'm looking for in an app (or at technique - just tell me how to do this):
Ideally free, but if it's that good, I'll pay for it.
Suggestions?
I've tried two apps so far and found them underwhelming:
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asquaremobileapps.videotoimageconverter - This had a user interface in Asian, and was peppering my phone with ads, then I read reviews saying it's a bad ad source
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=video.tophotoconverter&hl=en_US - This kept quitting while in use. It appears to lack a "tap to grab" function. And I was unable to produce and share any images.
What I'm looking for in an app (or at technique - just tell me how to do this):
- Play video - ideally even in slow motion
- Tap video to stop and examine a frame
- If frame looks good, dump it into the highest-possible resolution image
- Be able to share - text, email, whatever - the image from my phone, like any other photo or captured image
Ideally free, but if it's that good, I'll pay for it.
