In the great dogpile of "office" apps, there must be one that doesn't **** me off and that I un-install within minutes. I'm used to Microsoft Office on my real computers and lately have been using Open Office as I move out older computers. I don't expect to be able to do everything on the phone that I do on a computer, primarily due to the small screen and virtual keyboard, and I doubt I'll ever give a PowerPoint presentation from my phone, but sometimes I'll get a Word DOC or DOCX file e-mailed to me and I'd like to look it over and maybe make some small changes and send it back. Or I'll want to start a new Word document while I'm thinking about it and then later transfer it to my computer.
I'll settle for a paid version if it gets rid of ads, but what bugs me most about the ones I've tried are that when I create or edit a document, it only saves it as a PDF and/or it won't save it locally, but only wants to send it to a cloud. I want to save a DOC file that I open or create on my phone as a DOC file on my phone. What's so hard about that?
I'm using Marshmallow on a BLU VivoXL and that's probably the end of the line for OS updates so the app can't be too new.
