Recover photos and contacts from old phone to new phone but no longer have the old phone

If you have a Samsung and sign into your Samsung account u have a chance to back them up and delete but if its another Android only option is to delete remotely.

Welcome to Android Central! You didn't have your photos backing up automatically to Google Photos on the old phone? And did you save your contacts to your Google account (rather than the local Phone account)? If so, then it's a simple matter of syncing all of that with the new phone, which happens automatically once you sign in with the same Google account.

If you didn't do the above with the old phone, and you didn't have that information backing up anywhere else (like in your Samsung account, as mentioned above by mustang 7757), then you're out of luck. This kind of thing can be easily avoided with an ounce of prevention.

If you have backed them up to cloud storage, you could log in the same account on new device and restore the photos. If you haven't, they are gone.

Have you tried using the find my phone feature? Do a Google search for find my phone and log in. Sorry I'm assuming you have a Google account, most do I think lol. Also do a google search for Google dashboard after logging in. It will show you all your stuff.
