I had a number of voicemails in the stock VM app that I had been saving. Not thinking, in my attempt to fix the post-update issues I did a factory reset.

Now, I need the voicemails.

Is there a way to recover them? As they were not deleted, is there any chance whatsoever that they are on Sprint servers and can be re-pushed to the device? What I need is just from Aug and September....

You could be SOL but you should definitely give Sprint a call about it. If you didn't expressly delete them they should still be on Sprint's servers.

-According to customer service in store - nope.

-According to customer service on the phone - nope.

-According to android tech support level 1 - cannot be re-pushed to the device. HOWEVER, they gave me the line to sprints Legal/Security office, tasked with keeping records for an indeterminate amount of time just in case of litigation. They have the records, the question is whether its going to take a subpoena to get the data back.

If this GB update hoses me out of the money I am entitled to, I'm going to be pissed.

In store tech recommended setting up google voice, as once the VM is pushed to the phone its not available on their servers anymore. GV is essentialy your own backup. Should have been doing this anyways, rather than relying on sprints stock apps.

Update: Per sprint security and data retrieval, they do not keep/store voicemails on their servers, and everything is pushed to the device. If you cannot retrieve from the device, they cannot access the information either. They state they keep no historical data.

If you need a voicemail, either forward to an email address using the stock app, or use google voice for automated email backup. Otherwise, if anything happens to your device, Sprint is unable to recover the information for you.
