Recovering a draft message. Urgent.

Basic story: I was typing notes to myself in a draft on my galaxy s6 sm-g920a ...the draft had built up quite extensively over weeks. Stupidly, I never thought of sending it to myself (to a personal email). I just kept it saved as a draft (with the recipient field left blank). So there it is, saved as a draft in my messages. Now, because the draft was so long, I decided to create a another draft. But as soon as I created the new draft it seemed to DELETE my old draft. The old draft disappeared... as if the phone is only allowed to have one draft saved at a time. So now all these notes are gone or are they? Was the first draft saved somewhere before it was displaced?

Thanks for any help. I will literally pay to get this draft back. I've tried a few software recovery programs to no avail. All they do is show the current list of text messages on my phone.

I can't find any trash folder anywhere. Where do I find it? The draft was written in the standard text message area... So I guess, yes, the built-in app... The standard yellow "Messages" icon (yellow background with white envelope)...The draft was essentially a text message sent to no one, thus saved as "draft"... I've had other phones, and they always let you save multiple drafts simultaneously, like you're adding a new contact (except a draft with no recipient name)...It's as if the phone assumes everything you write is so meaningless (if it's a draft) that it doesn't even prompt you if you want to delete (when it automatically displaces it with the new draft)... Maybe because the recipient field was blank it gets automatically written over? Yet the draft I had was "saved as a draft" when I created the new draft...

In order to save a draft, all you have to do is hit the return key and go back to the standard list of text messages, where your draft now appears as anonymous (a pop up simply says "saved as a draft)... But when I hit the return key after making the second draft... my first anonymous draft immediately disappeared and was displaced.... So my question I guess is, was it written over, or is it saved somewhere... Seems like a cruel design flaw if it's just written over.

Oh, a text message. I don't use the Samsung text message app. You might try finding a text message export program, I suppose.

I tried a export program. All I get is "No backup files were found"... I have AT&T... I don't suppose a saved draft would find its way to the cloud?

Is there some folder on the phone (if I connect it to my PC maybe) where text messages are stored?

sorry to say but i don't think you can get that back since it was just a draft. also i just tried to replicate your issue but the messaging app would not let me save a draft with no recipient number. the only options were discard or cancel so i don't know how you managed to save a draft with no recipient set...

Rather use the "memo" app for making notes about ongoing projects. Decent categories and it really saves items.
