Recovery will not flash

Tried CM, twrp, and AmonRA multiple times, but hboot will not flash any recoveries using update.zip method.
I've ran Revolutionary, have S-OFF, hboot version number now reads 6.16.1002. I didn't have an internet connection when I ran Revolutionary, so it wasn't able to download CM. Hboot checks several files with the name PC36IMG, but I get multiple "No image or bad image!" messages, and then it takes me back to bootloader.
I've also tried installing ROM Manager and having it install CM, but that just ends with an error.
Is it that my version of hboot isn't compatible with the recoveries found in the threads here? Thanks for any and all advice.

First I heard of this, but I can say your hboot is compatible. I had twrp and Amon_RA on my Evo after I ran the Revolutionary rooting. Not sure what to tell you.

So just so I'm clear. After you rename the recovery zip PC36IMG, place it on the root of the SD card and boot into Hboot it doesn't see the zip file?

Hboot seems to be acknowledging that there is an image on the SD card, but after it "checks", it shows a "No image or wrong image!" message several times, all in less than a couple of seconds. It goes right back to hboot afterward.

I'll try downloading SDK and see if that will help. If not, revert back to S-ON and try Revolution again, this time in a place where it can download and flash the recovery itself.

Dumb question, but are you sure the PC36IMG.ZIP is actually in the root dir? Kinda sounds like hboot isn't seeing it.

Following everything to the letter.

UPDATE: I tried flashing with flashboot and adb shell, but neither worked. So, I flashed the update.zip from this thread:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...oot-evo-2-3-3-ruu-method-s-now-available.html
to get my S-ON back and retry Revolution (lo and behold, this one actually did flash successfully).
I did a factory reset and formatted my SD card, but when I try to run Revolution, it says I'm still S-OFF. hboot says S-ON. What now?:'(
