Red CWM w/ DL30 warning

The new green is built for dl30. The boot loader does not display a build number. If this stuff is took much for you to track you probably shouldn't be rooting. This is s courtesy by some very talented developers., not a consumer product and demanding that it be easy to use seems a bit ingratious. Track down the link for new green. I would post it but I'm on my phone.

battery life much improved without red by the way.

Not too much to track, just gets confusing since nobody really is coming out and defining anything. We have this forum that promotes the red, XDA that promotes new green. Two good sites, two conflicting directions.

So if I intend to Voodoo when the kernel comes out for 2.2, what would be the most stable CWM to run on Froyo? Is there an official 2.2 CWM yet? My battery life seems to be unaffected by using red CWM on 2.2

There is a new green for 2.2. I would use it until voodoo is released for 2.2 and see if a new red is released.

Red may work but there are early signs that it is not ideal such as backups not working and some advanced options. I'm gonna stick with new green for now.

Yea can someone link the new green CWM please? Is the process to go from red to green bad?

I don't think either forum is specifically endorsing either. XDA got their hands on the green that was built for DL30, and seems to be the only way to accomplish certain tasks. Give it a go and see if it's better for you, if not stick with red. As i've said to others the whole rooting process is very organic and plays out differently for everyone.

I am half tempted to put all my old rooted/de-bloated 09 back on and try the other way, but I am resisting temptation. All is working well, I have teh new green on and just added the jt kernel to allow for boot animation, and it also puts the new cwm on as well.

Do I go back to DL09 to install it?

Does anyone know if we can just flash to Green in DL30? Do we have to go back to DL09? Or from DL30, just flash to green then to DL30 again?

I am so confused. My red seems to be working fine.

Thats basically what I was trying to find out

After you do this, what color should the text be when you boot to recovery? Mine was RED, but now its BLUE. Shouldn't it be GREEN?

HELP! :-)

With green cwm you'll boot to blue then volume down to install update.zip and it will put you into green. You can just install the new green file I linked a few posts back and it will replace red.

OK, I'm lost. I downloaded the file from a few posts back, but maybe I did the wrong thing. I got a file called "new_cwm.zip", renamed it to "update.zip" and put it on the root of the SD card. When I 'apply...' in the Blue CWM, I get a 'signature verification failed'.

I'm thinking that failure stopped me from bricking my Fascinate. I obviously did something wrong. Where should I be getting the 'update.zip' file from?

In your old cwm you will want to select"install from sd card" navigate to the .zip file that I said to install, select it and hit yes. This will replaced the "update.zip" that you use in blue recovery. you do not replace it manually. if you already replaced it manually and didn't save the original use rom manager to flash the new file, our get the odin file for red clockwork then follow the steps above after you get red back up and running.

I was able to flash to green in DL30 with no ill effects.. Now I can use the apply:update.zip function where I could not before, using blue recovery.

This is what did also. My battery then showed 15%. I plugged it in for a minute then double checked to make sure I was in green. Rebooted the phone said 44% but had 3/4 listed on the battery logo. I then tried to go back to green and got a "battery low" error.

Tonight I will try to reset the battery with the info from XDA.

I have experiences similar to this with flashing ROMS and the battery showing sudden drop offs after the flash.

With all the battery tests, trials and tribulations I put my phone through the one thing I will always push is are the principles of good battery conditioning... Don't put the phone on the charger until it is almost dead.. Don't wipe battery stats until fully charged. Don't start the charge then pull it off a few minutes later expecting the battery display to reflect what is actually present.

Beware some of the battery monitors do not accurately display what the battery is currently maintaining - shop around.

It will take several charge /\ deplete cycles before you can get a a durable battery life and accurate reads.

How did we start off with a conversation about CWM and end up on battery care???
