Redirecting virus?

I have the exact same problem... I've had mine for a week also and miss my S4 already... I tried many virus and malware scans but nothing works... I'd really like to avoid a factory reset... please help!

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried everything mentioned in this thread so far? There's more than just malware scans that has been discussed.

I'm having issues with a "virus" redirecting me to weird warnings on Google or taking me to the play store. It's irritating me, I can't find a way to delete it. I've had my S7 for a week and already want to go back to my S5... Anyone else experiencing this issue or have a way to solve it?
install kaspersky antivirus in the playstore! Let it run a scan and it will find the base apk virus i alsof had this base apk virus and kaspersky found this base apk virus and destroyed it

A "virus" cannot hurt an Android or any mobile OS. All these anti virus apps for mobiles are just gimmicks. What you have in your phone sounds like a malware, I hope it is not a ransomware. Anyways if you have a memory card, take it out and insert it in a pc and scan it using an anti-virus for pc's like Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender or Kaspersky Anti Virus and format your phone.

If I thought my phone was infected the last thing I would do is remove the memory card and use it in my pc without proper precautions. Some malware/ viruses can hide and auto run on other devices. Has others have said use malewarebytes. Plus at least two antivirus programs. Not at the same time though. Clear all tabs in your browser plus the cache.

I have a question about Safe Mode. Can you boot into Safe Mode without loosing my contacts and so on?

Thanks

All Safe Mode does is to temporarily disable the 3rd party apps you installed. This can help you narrow down the cause of a problem to something you installed vs something that was preinstalled (or something in the system). Your contacts will be fine.

If you install 2 anti virus softwares in any OS, they will clash in the background whether you open them or not. I reiterate that there is no need of any AV software for a mobile OS.

I actually meant install one run it. Un-install and then use another then un install. Sorry for the confusion.

I found another solution for this. Whenever you delete history or linked pages, make sure you check the "All Sites" button at the top of Settings/Site Settings. This is where trusted sites store their permissions. A lot of advertisement sites will not be deleted after clearing history and you must manually delete all of the sites. Worked for me and I have had no more redirects.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and CM Security. Run Malwarebytes and I found a file called /data/app/app.sun.project-1/base.apk. Demove that and that fixed my problem. It may say something about phone administrator. Click to open and you should see a blank spot that say's on like the other apps. Turn that off and it will let you uninstall that file. CM Security is just there to scan apps and so forth before installing. Hope this helps!!

This also worked for me (so far). It got rid of a game I forgot that I'd installed, wordscape. Thank you so much. It was extremely frustrating. It was taking over my phone, interrupting what ever I was doing. Opening web pages even when the phone was off. Thanks
