Reduce photo size for social media posting

Here's my dilemma: I don't want to change the resolution of my photos simply to post them to a social media account (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). However, the problem is that an 8 megapixel shot is too large to upload. Is there a simple way to continue taking shots at 8 megapixels and, when uploading to Twitter, for example, select to use a smaller size version of that shot or do I have to edit and resize my shot prior to doing that?

I'd like to know a trick to do that, too.

It would be nice if this would be part of the share functionality.

Right know sharing a pic with twitter, email or path sends the original big file.

How do you guys reduce the photo size before uploading?
