This is my third HTC One unit and i always have a doubt that this is refurbished.
Im not even sure what carrier unlocked this unit is.
Basically, how do i find out what carrier unlocked my phone is and how do I check if this unit is refurbished?

I'll be interested to hear how one would know if their phone is refurbished. I know in some businesses they change the serial number on refurbished items. It'll be interesting to know. Hopefully, someone will chime in soon.

I don't know if checking for refurbished status is possible on any phone.

You can know the manufactured date, sales region and model in this HTC support site by writing down your IMEI and Serial Number. That's the furthest we can go I guess.

If you purchased your phone from a carrier, they are "legally" bound to let you know if its refurbished or not. So, unless you got your phone from some fly by night carrier, then you have a New Phone, if you paid full price for it.

AT&T will tell you that their replacement phones are refurbished. They don't hide it.

I bought it from a trusted electronics shop, not a carrier.
I regret doing that. :-\

This might be a Sprint only thing, but if you dial ##786# it will pull up a Reverse Logistics Support screen (if this doesn't work you could try*#*#786#*#*). Look for "Reconditioned Status", it'll say no or list a date. Mine says no. It was a replacement phone I got after having a USB charging issue. After I got this replacement I checked SNdeep Info and found that it was manufactured 12 days before I picked it up (so it probably isn't a refurb). I've always wondered though if they change the serial numbers so that a phone appears to be new.

I live in New Zealand, so the ##777## thing doesn't work.
The phone looks pretty new and works new but i still have doubts.

I'll just ask this Tech Guy I know to help me about the refurbish question.
Anyway, how do I find out what carrier unlocked this phone is.
The two previous units I gotten had logo's on the back of the phone. One had a T-Mobile logo and a at&t logo.
This one doesn't have any logo on it except beats audio. All the guy said was that this is a Nz unlocked phone. I didn't actually pick this replacement up, my Dad did.
I was at school, so I couldn't ask the store employees.

As long as it looks new and works as it should I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it because you can never really know. I always like to get my electronics in manufacturer-sealed packaging if I expect them to be truly virgin. ;)

The packaging was a little scrunchy on the sides. I'm not too worried over my phone supposedly being refurbished, but I just have to rest my mind knowing which carrier my
phone has been unlocked from. Knowing that will help me also know when i will get the 4.3 software update. I am on 4.2.2 atm.
Any suggestions on how to find out which carrier unlocked my phone? Thanks

It was possible on the EVO 3D, I will see if I can dig something up and see if it will work on One's.

Edit: Still possible.

Dial ##786# and look for "Reconditioned Status"

This is a feature of Sense so it may not work on custom ROM's and will most assuredly not work on CM.

Maybe the OP can check his CID to see which carrier (or none at all) is tied to his phone.

There's an app called CID Getter (or Checker, can't remember) on the Play Store. Use it and post the CID here.
