Refusing a delivery?

Hi everyone,

This will be my fist thread on this forum. I searched a fare bit of time before deciding to post it because I didn't find a thread that exactly answers my questions.

On the 6th of september I ordered a nexus 4 but there was a problem with my visa card and the order was frozen. On the following day I changed the card and the order started processing. I don't know how but I ordered 2 phones accidentally. Its 00.44 of 11th at the time of writing and my phones have already been shipped and are in France. They arrived from Dublin.

The UPS site tells me that a storage place in the outskirts of Paris is the Last location and that they are receiving an arrival scan. Will they tomorrow send a courrier to my adresse? And before his arrival will they call me on the telephone number I have given to them so that I can know when to be at home?

Also how exactly can I refuse the second phone? I just tell the man to send it back? Thats it? What will it cost me? I understand that a refund will be made in about a week after the return?

Thank you to anyone who helps me in advance!

Welcome to the forums! This is an odd situation, indeed. I'd call Google and see what they say to do. I'm not entirely sure that you'll receive a refund if you simply refuse the delivery. You may have to have them provide you with a prepaid shipping label to return it.

You will have to go through the proper channels for returning. Simply refusing delivery you will still be charged.

Thank you for the replies.

I am already charged for the 2 phones. And I'm not sure how they will be delivered. Shouldn't I be able to just say to the man to send the the 1 phone back to the sender? Doesn't it work like that? Google says that I can just refuse the delivery. But how exactly?

edit: Should I call UPS or Google? I don't know their telephone numbers for France.

I would call Google in France for the correct procedure for returning the phone. (or use the UK number and they will
be able to point you in the right direction.)

If, you don't it could take months for a refund and the onus will be on you to proof
that the phone was sent sent back.

This is the UK contact number: +44-800 328 6081

I think you would call Google. The France Google Play support telephone number is : France 0805 541 040 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday - Saturday)

Here's a couple websites that might be useful. These are state-side websites so not sure if helpful to you are not:

There is a way to refuse delivery, (at least in the States), but I'm pretty sure you have to contact Google first and follow their instructions on how to do so. You might be right that you simply could accept one and refuse the other, but as others have advised, I wouldn't do that without checking with Google first and having them tell you that you can do it so there is a record.

I'm pretty confidant that Google will work with you to solve the problem, return the extra unit, and refund your money. If you got the 8 GB model at the French equivalent of $199 the worst case scenario is you just resell it. You probably could get what you paid for.

Funny, I have a similar story. I have a Verizon i605 Note2 that I got the Yellow Triagle of death. I took it to Verizon store. They were quick to order a replacement. I have the replacement but in the mean time I fixed my phone. I found out then when the see the counter at 1 and the bianary set to custom that I'd be charged for the replacement.

I know, Triangle Away... Read some bad posts on that so I don't really want to try that.

Anyway, sell your 2nd phone in ebay. Its perfect cause its virgin:-)

What kind of phone is the second phone?

@ciniob its also a nexus 4. I placed the order from the google site.

"Thank you for contacting Google Play Support. I do not think UPS will call you, you can try and contact them and let them know you only want one of the orders and want to refuse the other. If they both get delivered you can still send it back as refused as long as you do it within 5 days of delivery and the package is not opened, you will just need to call UPS and set up a time for them to pick up the package."

Btw this is the message I got from google. I am planning to still call them today. Thanks a lot for the replies guys. I will keep you updated

Hello everyone!

Sorry it took me a while to update the thread.

Google didn't call me. They just delivered the 2 phones to the apartment guard. One of my friends brought the second phone from me. I'm now happy with mine and everything is okay.

Thanks to all.
