This device just went into field testing with at&t early this last week.

Given our testing schedule I would anticipate release in the mid-May time frame.

I will tell you that this is one sweet device and the only gripe I have so far is that it doesn't have a MicroSD slot, and removable battery.

Battery life does seem to be very good though so that may not be as much a deal breaker for some. The screen quality is insane though, everything is very smooth...

mid-May? man talk about stretching out an announcement. I am really sick of seeing and hearing about these new phones and then having to wait months to get them. They need to speed up these releases...

The trouble is mfg's rush to get something out to make the next big event and then leave it to the engineers to work out the bugs to get it to market.

Tail wagging the dog most of the time and I've yet to see a mfg that this doesn't happen to. Nokia had the same issue in Jan around the Lumia N900 and that won't make it to market until April in the US...

Does anyone believe the rumor that the release date of HTC One X will be delayed because the S4 chip is being delayed in production??

@phonegeek, any more info you can spill on the One X? How is the Camera in real world situations? Obviously there has been much talk, both good and bad, about the camera on the One X. Also nice to hear battery life is strong...seems the 28nm chip tech and integrated LTE radio is ushering in a new era of good battery life.

Would love to hear any more thoughts you have on the phone. Sitting here eligible for an upgrade and patiently waiting for its release on at&t. Mid May is not a deal breaker, but certainly later than expected...

A couple of screenshots of benchmarks I ran this morning.

As far as thoughts on the camera I am not completely bought into the hype yet but want to work through more testing. My initial reaction is that I expected it to be faster to take the shot when I press the button but I really haven't had a chance to play with it much...

wow, you're the man. good stuff and keep it coming! This is obviously the krait dual core version, correct? those numbers are impressive.

battery life updates would be really helpful too :D, I know there are a lot of people worried about the 1800 mAh rating... That being said the new tech should help out a lot! My Atrix does very well on a 1900 stock battery, its just the large screen I am concerned about.

anyhow, it is awesome you are making some tidbits of info available for us. kudos

Is it 16GB or 32? Just curious as that will be my decision as to whether I'm willing to wait or not

thanks!

Phonegeek,

Do you know if this phone will come with beats audio headphones and do you know what the contract and off contract prices might be? Thanks

I wouldn't bet on anybody that does testing to know anything about pricing. It's just not in the scope of things that they need to know to do their job. (but we can hope of course LOL)

So our test units show the beats audio logo, and there is SW on the device showing the logo but we didn't get headphones. :(

As was said I am not a sales guy so I can't speak to the pricing points just yet. I do usually hear some of that as we get closer to release and if I get a sense of where it will land I'll pass the word.

Phonegeek, any chance u can post some real world pics taken with the camera??

I had a real busy week but will try to get a couple and see if I can post them this weekend.

I think it seriously suck that AT&T is cutting the storage size in half. Was any rational reason given?

I may have missed this somewhere but where is it said that AT&T cut the storage? It comes with 16GB, certainly not what I would expect for a "high end" device, and no microSD slot is a big miss too IMO.

You didn't miss anything. What he's saying is the international version come with 32GB, the US version, the one you're testing, comes with 16. By our estimates, AT&T neutered it and cut storage in half.

Phonegeek what are your thoughts on the weight and "feel" in the hand?

My only other experience with an HTC phone was with my Inspire 4G, which IMO was heavy in the hand as compared to my Samsung GS2 and Galaxy Nexus
Appreciate your insight

Thanks!

Phonegeek, Are you still standing by your guess of mid-May release date for AT&T given the rumors of the chip manufacturing delay for the Qualcomm chip in the US version of the One X? Will AT&T release date be effected by it? Please let us know! Thanks!!!

Just come to the consensus that the US pretty much gets phones last and by the time this is released, the next big thing will start to leak...the never ending cycle.

When will these people learn my impulse buy moment is only 4 weeks after announcement?
