Release day is here

Anybody pick it up in the store today? How stocked are they?
I picked up my blue 16GB GSIII at Best Buy. My upgrade was due on Saturday, 7/14, but BB allowed me to use it two days early. It seemed like they had plenty of units in stock, and I didn't make it there 'til 11:00 AM.

And I'm VERY happy so far, though it's been on the charger all day so I don't have any basis for judging battery life. I'm going to let it run out over the weekend. I'm coming from a RAZR MAXX, which I still like quite a bit, but the processor, RAM and screen-resolution bumps convinced me to pick up the GSIII.

Unfortunately, I lost unlimited data in the process, but I average substantially less than 2GB, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

No way, RAZRs are way too 'blocky' for me.

As an aside, I cruised into my local VZW this morning at about 9:10, waited about fifteen minutes to pick up my GS3, only to find out they don't have 32 Gig phones in the store, they have to be ordered. ~sigh~ So once again I wait. Supposedly it ships by 7/16.

I was going to go by a store this evening to pick up a 32GB model. Is it true that no stores have them? Doesn't make sense to me as I figured for only 50 bucks more to get the 32GB was an easy choice and that would be the one they would have out right away. As usual, no logic in the release of devices by VZW.

My Verizon seemed to have 32g even though I didn't want it. She asked me what color and size!

Cool. I'll check different stores to see which ones have the 32GB. Thanks for letting me know.

I have both phones, gave the Maxx to my wife to get her on 4G from an IP4s so I can make a fairly decent comparison. I bought the Maxx when it came out and it is an awesome phone. Once you get used to the battery it's hard trying not to compare it to another phone Getting ICS a few weeks ago was icing on the cake. The radio, call quality, etc are better on the Maxx also.

The S3 is quick, it's noticeable between the two phones but if you never use the S3, you'll never miss the difference. The screen on the S3 is nicer too. Not a fan of the home button because it's too iPhone, all the way down to taking a screen shot. There are some nice features loaded into the S3 but I am not using them, the gestures and S Voice. They are more fluff than useful and I figured they would add to the battery drain. With casual use you can go from 7am to 7pm and still have 30% of battery. With the Maxx, i could go almost 30 hours.

I'm sure i missed other features, etc, but as I told a friend the other day asking which phone to buy, I still suggested the Maxx over the S3. Before anyone goes crazy on me, I am using the S3. My wife only uses about .5GB/mo to check emails and FB plus the S3 would be overkill for her.

I just got a DROID RAZR Maxx yesterday to hold me off till today for the s3 realease. Turns out though I really like the Maxx. Would anyone on here keep the Maxx or go change out for the s3. I really don't know what to do. Would I be future proofed with the Maxx or should I go with the s3 so it lasts me the full 2 years?

Thanks everyone for the input I'm gonna stick with the power of DROID for now the battery life and build quality are what got me. Pluse I have 30 days since I bought it from Verizon so I nay be able to sneak in the DROID RAZR HD which would be awesome. Thanks everyone for the help you all were great.

One other thing to consider when thinking about the Razr Maxx is that it has been out for about 6 months now so it is six months closer to it's end-of-life than the S3. Maybe Moto is going to give it a longer life than the 9 months it gave the Droid X. Then again maybe not. Time will tell.

I live in Arizona and am in Indiana for this week. I checked the stores in Indy and none had the 32 GB. I went to the store on E. Washington St. and was told right now the ONLY way you can get the 32GB is to order it and it will be shipped to your home in about 5 days. Still doesn't make sense why you would not release in stores the model that to me seems to be the most popular.

Don't know about all stores, I can only speak for the one near my house.

On the upside, my order, placed around 10:00 AM EDT, already shipped and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. So their shipping estimates apper to be out of whack at the moment as well.

If thats the case fingers crossed, Well I guess maybe I will get my 16gb that i Preordered on tuesday tommorrow, I checked my order status this afternoon yesterday my order status said your order has been received and is being processed. Today to having a box with my order number and a tracking number box but no tracking number listed yet. I ordered a blue 16gb,

I did stop by a local verizon store to play with one I am stoked and it makes my d3 feel like my first android the LG ally.

I wish the otterbox defenders were out today could not find one anywhere.

I'm planning to go to a VZ store tonight, just to take a look at a RAZR for comparison. I'll plan to talk to a rep too, even though I don't think they'll be able to help much... maybe they can at least swap out my SIM and see if that helps. If not, I'll call tech support tomorrow.

I stopped by the VZ store tonight, and as I guessed no one was any help. The rep said if the sim card was bad it wouldn't work at all, and I do suspect he's right. The phone works everywhere else, just not in my concrete office building. He wasn't surprised to hear me say my DX worked fine, and he also said that Motorolas have the best radios. I played with a RAZR at the store, and just couldn't see myself trading. I've got my call forwarding working pretty well at the office, as long as that's the only place I need to worry about it, I'm sticking with the S3.

I went with the white 16gb model since I already had a 32gb card. I also used to have the DROID RAZR Maxx. I can say with certainty that the RAZR had much stronger cell signal that then SGS3. The screen was okay once you got used to it. It might be a little difficult for you since you've been looking at the SGS3.

The camera on the RAZR sucks. But the battery life is something that no other phone can touch. If you have unlimited data and don't mind the screen, then I would go with the Maxx. It'll let you maximize your amount of 4G data per charge, while still giving you a dual core processor and a gig of ram.

I didn't even ask, she did it automatically!

Though of course she tried to talk me out of the GS3 first saying it had bad reception etc. but yeah she did it all on her own! :p

Haha! Gotta love some reps. Assuming you paid full retail to keep unlimited data pack?

I checked my account after reading your earlier post, and despite what the CSR at Best Buy told me, I still have unlimited data!

Let us know how it goes. I'd be interested to see if there are some fixable problems with the signal quality.
