I have noticed that Samsung G7 is quite expensive here in Canada even on contract ($399-$499), I know it's a leading android phone but it's starting to feel like Sammy is slowly playing the 'Apple game'...

But seeing some of the recent alleged benchmark leaks which show M10 beating S7 in some tests leads me to wonder if HTC might also price their device at near Apple prices. I really hope not. I'm still using the wonderful M8 and I got that at a reasonable price when that was released, $250 with contract.. I've heard the LG G5 will be sold with contract for around $200-300 here in Canada. As audiophile I am already attracted to the LG G5 as it has world class audio hardware and I just read a review that said it had the best smartphone camera in the world! For me, if LG G5 can be have world class leading hardware and be released at reasonable price them I hope HTC also keeps the price down too. Samsung can get away with charging high prices because they have kinda gotten in the minds of consumers Apple style... but considering supposed relative financial failures of htcs recent phone releases I think pricing it out of reach for the average person world be a mistake. What do others think and how much are you prepared to pay for M10?

If they don't take risks and offer a world class platform; not so much. If they provide a platform that excels and really competes; much more. I don't have a set dollar amount I will pay up front but I can be woo'd to pay more for a superior platform. Had the S7e been a true edge phone (like the Note 4 edge) I would have paid a pretty penny for it. However its just a gimmick still in the main stream and current models. They had a winner with the Note 4 Edge technology and neutered it and yet tons of people buy it. *shrug*

So I guess it will depend most on what the standard sticker options are for me to fathom a price I would pay.

I'm interested in the htc 10. If the price point comes in somewhere between the lg g5 and an s7 then I will seriously consider buying. I don't see htc commanding a cost above an s7 and should be more in line with the g5. Not saying s7 is a better product, just that people are paying the asking price for it.

OEMs have been exposed by Anandtech as detecting the said benchmarks apk, and optimizing the SoC accordingly.

Couple examples:
M8: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7893/the-htc-one-m8-review/6
M9: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9102/the-htc-one-m9-review-part-1/4

To be clear I still have my HTC M8, and the Sense UI is the only OEM skin I haven't removed out of all the rooted android phones I've had in the past. So to be honest benchmarks are irrelevant. All flagships will be quick, the only thing that matters is the fluidity, smoothness, & RAM management the OEM has incorporated in the skin that's on top of stock Android

Yes I love sense...to be honest I got a great love affair with HTC one m8...in fact the only reason I am considering upgrade Is because of the non removable battery which has lost capacity and now dies earlier... I love sense software, never had any crazy lagging, and has a lot of great subtle features unlike touch Wiz which throws the kitchen sink at you lol. Also, I love my M8s ir blaster, quality of audio, stereo speakers, camera is decent, blinkfeed, the Google Play icon in the header of the app drawer, the flipcase that wakes and puts screen to sleep relative to position and the actual look of the phone - its beautiful... With regard to M10 I will miss the stereo speakers if they get rid of it. However, at the moment I am still leaning towards the LG G5 as it seems to have its finger on the pulse with regard to audio and I like the always on display feature... But if M10 can 'kick it' and show consumers why they should part with $200-400 on contract I will pay! From the picture leaks it looks like it will be a good looking phone -as usual- but from past experiences good looks alone don't seem enough to pay the rent for HTC...

No phone is worth $1,000. Hopefully this phone is no more than $650.

Posted using my Moto Maker Moto X Pure Edition on Verizon... Unlimited Data as well...Android Central App helped as well ;)

Not sure how reliable the source but looks to be several flavors?

HTC 10 said to have SD652 variant as well - GSMArena.com news

GSMArenaArticle said:
The rumor says that the SD652-powered model will have 3GB RAM and 16GB memory, while the SD820 variant will come in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/128GB memory configurations. As for the price, the former will carry a tag of RMB 3,799 (around $585), while the latter two will set you back RMB 4,999 (around $770) and RMB 5,888 (around $900) respectively.

770 is a bit pricey for 3/32. Looks like they might be trying to price along the Sammy line which would be a poor idea....

If rumor true 4/128 is a large phone for sure!

Well if that's the case then the SD652 is only for Latin America, like it was for the G5. As far as the memory configurations, it wouldn't make sense. But then again, they did it with the A9. Maybe it's region specific for the different memory configurations.

I really do hope that HTC do not price themselves out of competition with the HTC 10. 3GB/32GB for $770 is going to be a tough sell for them. They need to sell that config for around $600 to bring people back.

agree 100%

Posting leaked prices in countries other than the US is a waste of time. Nobody here is a FX trader so trying to decipher VAT taxes and exchange rates isn't productive. I live in Canada and Apple gets away with selling iPhones for $1,400 here for the 6S+ 128GB. It's all relative. What it should be relative to is US dollar. Everyone in the world can figure out their price based on that.

*Faint* $1061 for an iPhone....good grief....

Great point. The US dollar is very strong right now too so I wouldn't expect leaked prices from foreign countries to translate directly to a us price just based on the current exchange rate.

Totally agree!

Well I can only hope that no matter what the device costs outright that wireless companies make it affordable with contract. Even though it's different technology, I don't know why some phones costs so much, especially compared to laptops. I have a relatively cheap two year old laptop that I bought for $500, but I would'nt be surprised to find out that it is still more powerful than the Sammy G7 and LG G5 put together...

You can't do just a straight up conversion of foreign currencies to your local currency and assume that's what the price will be in your country.

If I did that, I'd only be paying $800AUD (based off US pricing) for the Galaxy S7 when it actually retails for $1,200 here.

Literally no product is priced on a pure conversion basis. So making judgements on this rumoured price is pointless.

Saw another article about multiple pricing in Easter Europe. Really hope HTC positions the 10 in the right spot or it will scare away a lot of potential buyers. Seeing the 10 32GB be "more expensive" (in quotes due to not really knowing 100% sure on true pricing schedule) than a S7....that would go over very poorly and really put the microscope on any issue(s) the platform may have.

EDIT: Price <> Quality by any stretch.
