Can a lost phone, that has been locked remotely, be charged up by anyone who picks it up?

Remote locking secures data by disabling phone. I'm wondering if battery charging is disabled along with everything else.

No, battery charging is always possible, even if the phone is off.

Soft brick yes , hard bricked probably not.

Soft brick - boot loop to the logo

Hard brick - can't get to recover mode, download mode ,no screen, no vibration,not detected by computer

It was. I think it was disabled even though I didn't choose that option. Disabling essentially bricks the phone temporarily so that phone can't be detected/invaded via USB. I'm still not convinced that USB connection to battery is possible while disabled.

I believe the CPU of the phone controls charging. I read somewhere that one of the battery terminals provides battery temperature. If too hot the CPU disconnects the charger. No great leap to disconnect charger while disabled to make things more difficult for would-be snooper.

The battery is at half charge and losing 0.1v per week even though it has been put on charger overnight a few times. 5v appears near battery when charger is connected, but battery now reads 3.82v.

You didn't Tell us which phone you are using?

Now your asking different questions, when you start looking at different sources if information your not going to be content on what you receive back .

Example:
If you go to 5 different doctors about a problem , you are going to get 5 different opinions, stick with one source trust it and get your information from that .

If you're experiencing battery issues take it to a repair center but from what I'm getting from your statement doesn't sound like a battery issue.

You can have a charger all the time connected but newer phones have the ability to stop charging when full and start again when the battery goes down slightly. What are the variables when this happens mostly the engineer knows that information.

Many times I have solved my own problem while explaining it to others. Forums make good sounding boards. And, like doctors, it is wise to get a 2nd opinion if you can. (When you are doped up in intensive care that can be difficult. Been there!)

Unless I'm mistaken, phones and other battery powered devices have an independent charging circuit. The CPU can communicate with it in limited fashion, such as cutting off charging at 80%, but it is not fully controlled by the CPU. When the phone is turned off, it should return to its default state. That can allow it to know what voltage and current to use, and when the battery is full to shut off. I'm sure it is monitoring temps as well, but I'm not going to put my phone and battery at risk trying to test that. Lol

Either way, I've never heard of charging being disabled on an otherwise locked down phone. It wouldn't do anything to prevent someone from trying to get into it, but could ruin the battery if allowed to fully drain due to this.
