Removable back cover

The back can be unlocked. Does anyone know what this is for? sim card? replaceable battery?

I think it's for the sim card. Battery isn't replaceable.

Wouldn't it be great if it has a replaceable battery?! I would jump on this immediately.

Replaceable battery means even bulkier design to add structures for user replaceable battery, From what I saw in AT&T stores, it is already thicker than my Gear S.
