Hi all,
I have my device set to disable notifications and NOT to download or install system updates. I accidentally hit the wrong button while on a call and downloaded the update and keep getting popups to install it, frequently when attempting to make calls. Where is the file and how do I delete it?

I only use it to make and receive the occasional call when I'm out as I have no cell service at home other than over my router through my internet satellite connection and with the latency voice is torture. Also the camera is better than my Nikon D5000 digital SLR. Any help would be appreciated and I'd prefer not to root it or go back to factory default. Thank you

Welcome to the forums. I think that's a system file and there's not an easy way to remove it. Even if you could you would be getting the same 'Update available' notification.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try wiping the cache partition: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custh...e Power button, tap,Power button to select it.

That being said, I would recommend letting the update install, unless you know for sure there's a problem with the update itself. That's an old phone to begin with, which means it may already be vulnerable to various security flaws. Making sure it has all of the updates that ever came out for it will help improve the security that's available for the device.

Not to mention - if you're using it JUST for phone calls, what does it hurt to allow it to update? It's not like you're going to break app compatibility (actually, if it's an update to 8.0 it would help to IMPROVE app compatibility if you're using apps) if you're not using any apps on it as you say.
