remove the Applications menu

The bottom of the screen has icons for applications that appear on every page.
The right-most of these is the Applications menu (the icons looks like a grid).

I don't want it there. I keep hitting it by accident.
Placing an application on a screen is a very rare event for me.
I do it a few times a year to configure my pages, and I never launch directly from this menu.
I wish this menu was gone or hidden.
Can't I always just use the Menu key to get "Add applications/widget to page" thing, anyway?

I use Nova Launcher, you can move it where ever you want and it is totally configurable.
