Remove the folder menu while in a picture folder

[Android Central Question]

Can anyone help explain how to change the gallery view to remove the folder menu while in a picture folder... I held down a pic and that made the folders pop up on the left side of my screen, so now I can only preview pics 2 in each row instead of 3 across. That popped up so fast, but now I can't get it to go away, so I can see more thumbnails of pic in each folder.

Why would they do that make something change without asking, and then not make a simple view menu to get it back to normal? So frustrating.
