Android Central Question

I have recently misplaced my mobile phone , I need to know how I can remove all whats app data from the device. A work colleague suggested I load the app onto a new device , type my number in and that will upload my account , then I can delete my account from the new device which will in turn remove all messages , pictures and data on the old device , she even mentioned that doing it this way stops anyone with a computer software program interfacing the device and extracting old messages that have been deleted ?

Would this work bearing in mind I have no access to the device I've lost ?

That doesn't answer the original question
Thanks for registering. The steps to follow will depend on what you have done with your SIM card. Have you already contacted your carrier to cancel that SIM card? Are you still able to use the same phone number?

And one more question. Are you planning to keep the same phone number for WhatsApp in your new phone or are you going to change it?

Have you tried using Find my mobile/device to locate or even reset your lost phone?

I've cancelled the sim and then obtained a new one from the carrier .... so can log on and load what's app input my number and activate the account ... my question is once this has been done , can I delete the account ..thus removing all the messages and data pertaining to the whats app on my old device ? I have been informed this action will also remove all dat a from the google drive ? If some has my phone and uses software to reinstall any items they will have been removed !

Is this correct information ? If so I will action this

Kind regards

If you use the same number in a different phone WhatsApp will be blocked on the old one. To be sure I'd recommend you to use Find my mobile to perform a remote factory reset in your old one.

Just log into find my device with your account that was associated with the phone tap factory reset it will erase the phone and wont be trackable and if its powered off next time it goes on it will perform it .

Will this work if I have disconnected from google drive for safety reasons ?

It does give me the option to press ERASE ?

Also if my phone is off line will it be erased ?

If I press ERASE and it comes up saying trying to erase ... how will I know it's been done ?

One other thing , if the device is not being located and may be switched off how can make sure it is still wiped of all data ?
